On June 10 the Castle Valley Barracudas participated in their second meet of the young summer swim season traveling to Fillmore to take on both Fillmore and Salina. According to the Barracuda coach, only 11 of the team’s swimmers were able to make the contest but those who participated did extremely well.
“Almost everyone improved their time in at least one event and some did in all events,” said the Castle Valley coach.
Taycie Davis received fifth in the 25 meter freestyle and second in the 100 meter medley relay. She also took seventh in the 25 meter backstroke, fifth in the 25 meter breast stroke and second in the 100 meter free relay.
Alisann Heath received third in the 50 meter freestyle, first in the 25 meter butterfly, second in the 100 meter medley relay and when one of the teams 15 year-old swimmers got sick she swam in the 15-18 age group and took first in the freestyle relay a real accomplishment as she is only 10. Abby Alexander took fourth in the 50 meter free stroke, third in the 25 meter butterfly, second in the medley relay, first in the 25 meter back stroke, fourth in the 100 meter individual medley, third in the 25 meter breast stroke and second the 25 meter free relay.
Brittney Willson took first in the 50 meter freestyle, first in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 50 meter back stroke, first in the 100 meter individual medley, first in the 200 meter medley relay, second in the 50 meter breast stroke and first in the 200 meter freestyle.
Joset Wells received fifth in the 50 meter freestyle, second in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 200 meter medley, second in the 100 meter individual medley, fourth in the 50 meter breast stroke and first in the 200 meter freestyle relay.
Dakota Noyes took sixth in the 50 meter freestyle, fourth in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 200 meter medley, sixth in the 50 meter breast stroke and first in the 200 meter free relay.
Danni Noyes received seventh in the 50 meter freestyle, third in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 200 meter medley relay, first in the 200 meter freestyle relay.
Carli Perkins took first in the 200 meter medley relay.
Christi Wells received first in the 100 meter breast stroke, first in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 200 meter medley relay, first in the 100 meter back stroke, second in the 100 meter individual medley, first in the 100 meter breast stroke, first in the 200 meter freestyle relay, improving on all of her previous times.
Megan Barnett took second in the 100 meter freestyle, first in the 50 meter butterfly, first in the 200 meter medley relay, second in the 100 meter individual medley and first in the 200 meter freestyle relay.
Kim Callaway received third in the 100 meter freestyle, first in the 200 meter medley relay and third in the 100 meter individual medley and first in the 200 meter freestyle relay.
“The team has been working really hard,” said the Barracuda coach.
The squad’s next home meet will be on June 26.
