Deadline for FYI – is Tuesday at noon.
Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or e-mailed to fyi@sunad.com.
All news items are subject to editing. The FYI sections are published on a space permitting basis.
Flag Day ceremony – is scheduled June 14 at noon at the Price Peace Garden. Following the ceremony, Price American Legion Post 3 members will retire unserviceable United States flags at the Elks Lodge parking lot.
Carbon High 2008 graduates – are encouraged to pick up diplomas at the school office as soon as possible. Transcripts will be available upon request. Report cards will be mailed. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., except during lunchtime.
Sunnyside Community Daze – The celebration will be presented July 12 at Sunnyside park.
Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the parade.
The event will include entertainment, a car show, food and craft booths, class reunions and a climbing wall.
The Grassy Trails Rodeo is slated to start at dusk July 11 and July 12.

Friendship Trek – Bible School for youth ages 5 to 12 years old is scheduled June 23 through June 27 from 9 a.m. until noon at Ascension St. Matthew’s in Price. For information, call the church at 637-0106.
BACA Run to the Sun – is slated June 22 at Log Palace in Price. Registration starts at 9 a.m., followed by the run at 11 a.m.
Fuel and refreshments will be available at card stops and a sweep truck will be provided. Dinner will be served after the run.
The event will include a drawing and door prizes. Per player donations, poker hand fees and additional dinner charges will apply.
Carbon High Class of 1953 reunion – is planned Aug. 8 through Aug. 10 at the Price Greenwell Inn. For details or to check the classmates list, residents may contact Shirley Spensko at 472-5596.
Swap meets – are scheduled Saturdays at 10 a.m. at the old Dragerton Department Store. The grand opening wasb June 7. For booth information, contact East Carbon City Hall.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions are scheduled June 18 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health department in Price. Classes will also be taught June 19 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health district in Castle Dale. Test fees are required. Learn to speak, understand English – Small group sessions are scheduled Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 150 South 500 East in Price.
Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Free legal clinics – Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price.
Residents should bring all pertinent documents pertaining to legal questions. For information, residents may contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old.
The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.
Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
The center is also collecting donations for displaced families. Furniture items will be accepted only if the center has families in need. For information, call the center at 637-0281.
