Carbon County residents are invited to meet candidates, early voting underway
Several candidates on the June 24 primary elections will be on hand to answers questions Monday, June 16 at the Carbon County Courthouse.
“Meet the Candidates” night will provide voters with a chance to learn more about the candidates running for the Carbon County Commission, Utah House Representative – District 69 and Utah State Treasurer. The event is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 24 in the Carbon County Commissioners Chambers. Registered voters wanting to cast their ballots early can go to the county courthouse Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until June 20, identification is required to vote.
Price City recruiting walkers and hikers to participate in community challenge
Price City has developed a series of eight walks for Carbon County to take between June 16 and Aug. 1. The path for each walk is charted out on a map in a binder that will also contain the punch pass that participants will use when they have completed a walk. Anyone who finishes six of the eight walks will receive either a walking sick or sling pack and children will receive a pillow ball. The walks include historic, parks, cemetery, Price City facilities, Cove Basin, CEU campus, Helper Parkway and Price City business loop. For more information visit room 103 in Price City Hall.
Carbon County Italian-Americans featured in new television documentary
“Our Story: Utah’s Italian-Americans premiers at 9 p.m., Monday, June 16 on KUED-channel 7. The filmmaker says that Italian-Americans have played an integral role in the history of Utah and the fabric of modern society. The film showcases the significant historical, political, economic and cultural contributions of Italian-Americans in Utah.
The documentary produced by Joanne Milner looks at Italian Mormon settlers from the 1850s to 1870s; the wave of Italian immigrants in the industrial Mining and Railroad Era from 1890 to 1929; the Italian-Americans home-grown period, the cultural traditions and Italian-American families in Utah reconnecting with their ancestral roots.
