Snagged line

By Sun Advocate

Mike Winters, from Precis Communications, works to repair one-third of a mile of cable that was damaged Monday night when a high-load truck apparently snagged the line and snapped it. According to Shane Baggs, the director of operations for Precis Communications the load is believed to be illegal as it was being carried at night and clearly exceeded the permitted 17.6 foot maximum, as Precis’ cable is 18-feet above the roadway. Residents in West Helper were without Internet and cable television for 24 hours as the repairs were underway. “We did very well considering we had to string the line across the highway,” Baggs said. He also said that both UDOT and the Utah Highway Patrol are trying to discover who it was that tore the line down and kept going.
