Plateau-Willow Creek reunion – is planned Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the old Willow Creek mine warehouse. Potluck dinner will start at 2 p.m. Sandwiches will be provided. Hats with logos will be available for purchase.
Wellington log cabin – will be open to visitors Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The cabin is located in the Wellington park. For information, contact Helene Majors at 637-3759.
Sub for Santa yard sale – Sponsored by Matt Warner Chapter 1900, the sale is slated Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Rio Theater parking lot on Main Street in Helper.
Carbon County Triad – meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Price public safety dispatch center. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions are scheduled Sept. 30 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the public health department in Price. Test fees are required. For information, contact Claron Bjork or Tami Velasquez at the health department at 637-3671.
Swap meets – are scheduled Saturdays at 10 a.m. at the old Dragerton Department Store. For booth information, contact East Carbon City Hall.
Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For information, contact the public health department at 637-3671.
Women’s cancer screening – Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the public health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.
Free legal clinics – Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price. Residents should bring all pertinent documents pertaining to legal questions. For information, residents may contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old.
The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Child care resource and referral – For information on reserving a spot at upcoming child care provider orientation classes, local residents may contact Avis Burrows at 636-2355. Applications for startup grants are available at the office at CEU.
Price library – Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday.
Story time is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m.
English as a second language classes are Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. Basic literacy classes are scheduled as needed.
