Oh no! The elephant circus is back in town folks!
Yes, the Utah state legislature comprised of mostly white, anglo saxon, professional, business men, i.e., realtors, lawyers, doctors, etc., are back on the hill eager to pass more redundant, needless legislation to further harrass the average Utahn.
Are they there to represent all Utahns, i.e., to pass laws to assist the poor, the homeless, the uninsured, divorcees, single mothers, low income workers, etc., as well as all business interests and the dominant church? Based on their past record over the years, they most certainly are not.
They are there to protect their own interests and to curry favor with the business lobbyists just like they have always done.
Will they pass laws to increase teachers wages which are among the lowest in the nation? Or laws to increase classroom facilities which are bursting at the seams due to the Utah mind set to multiply and replenish the earth to the max? Or laws to enlarge our prison facilities which are also busting at the seams?
Oh no. They will pass more moral laws to further curb public sex education, drinking and smoking in public places, laws to curb cable tv, gay clubs, etc. Why don’t they pass more severe child sex abuse laws of which Utah leads the nation in?
In other words, to quote from the New Testament, these holier than thou hypocrites strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.
Oh well, what else is new?
