With 800 new wells projected for the West Tavaputs Oil and Gas field, in addition to the thousand or so already producing in this area, the State of Utah will have a massive revenue bonanza with related severance taxes and many other tax multipliers.
There has been well over $23 billion worth of coal extracted from our area and, still, far too many sections of Highway 6 are only two lanes wide. Why has this been allowed to happen? Utah, you can do better than this!
Piece meal construction projects with left over or trickle down funding is not going to get the job done. The state needs to commit to a master plan of four lanes full length. It appears that the state is willing to bond for northern Utah highway construction, why not bond for our Highway 6?
