Letter to the editor: Dangers of illegal immigration

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
After Sept. 11, 2001, in an age of Islamic terrorism and nuclear threat, we should have become fully alerted and alarmed permanently about the dangers in the world.
But we continue on in complacency even today. Lets look at the facts.
There are now upwards of 20 million illegal aliens in the United States. Roughly one million legal immigrants are admitted each year. Some 400,000 illegal aliens have been ordered deported, but are on the loose in the U.S. after being released by federal immigration courts.
There are only 20,000 detention beds in the entire country to hold illegal aliens. There are only 2,000 federal agents employed by the Department of Homeland Security to track down the estimated 12-20 million illegal aliens who are living, working, going to school, getting driver’s licenses and, yes, committing crimes and plotting terrorist actions in our country even as I write this letter.
Our borders on the north and the south are full of beaten paths these illegal aliens use to enter the U.S.
Article four, section four, of the Constitution clearly states, “The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion.”
We are not the boarding house for the world. It is time that we started filling those positions in Washington, D.C. with legislators who believe in the above article and act as though they do.
