Eastern Utah Parrot Heads party with a purpose for Utah Foster Care

The Eastern Utah Parrot Heads had another successful year as they raised over $9,000 via their annual golf tournament.
The funds were dispersed between the Utah Foster Care Foundation and a local resident fighting cancer.
“This tournament came out of our vision to sponsor events benefiting causes that would touch the lives of Parrot Heads, their families and friends,” said member Jenny Gagon. “We want to give back to our community while having a great time, we call it ‘party with a purpose.”
The club was chartered by Gagon in May of 2006 under the organization Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc.
According to the local resident, there are hundreds of clubs throughout the nation donating and volunteering all with the, “party with a purpose,” attitude.
“Again we are a humanitarian group, who through the love of Jimmy Buffet, his music and our tropical spirit contribute to the community and environment of Eastern Utah.
Golfers came out this year dressed in their favorite tropical attire. They decorated their golf carts and raised their margaritas all to, “party with a purpose,” for the foster care foundation and one of their friends in need.
The monies given to the foundation will be used to help students purchase new school clothes. The club also had a Parakeet Palm Tree where approximately 70 foster care children were adopted. The new adoptive parents then went shopping for school supplies to care for their new charges.
“They filled backpacks full of school supplies that will be given in addition to the monies raised,” explained Gagon.
The group was also able to make a sizeable donation to a resident fighting cancer who has supported the tournament in the past.
“We were honored to give back to someone who has given and helped us in the past,” said Gagon. “It is overwhelming the support we received from everyone in the community.”
According to Gagon, the tournament was full with a month long waiting list and there are already teams signed up for next year. The event was conducted the first Saturday in August and interested parties can contact Gagon.
