Barry Grant Maxfield
PRICE – Barry Grant Maxfield, 59, passed away April 28, 2008 in Price.
He was born June 9, 1948 in Grand Junction, Colo., to Raymond Baker and Leda Mecham Maxfield. He married Linda Lilly in Green River on Feb. 22, 1975; they were later divorced.
Grant was raised in Green River and attended school from the first grade through 12th grade in Green River.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served aboard the destroyer USS Dehaven.
When he got out of the Navy, he settled in Green River. He later moved to Price.
In Price, he was a member of VFW Miners Post 2379.
He had an excellent reputation as a professional truck driver and as a miner.
He had a tremendous voice and excelled as a guitar player, providing joy to many who listened as he shared this talent.
His idol was Elvis Presley and one of the highlights of his life was his visit to Graceland, where he recorded “How Great Thou Art.”
He is survived by his daughters, Stacy (Juan) Lovato of Green River; Crystal Maxfield of Albuquerque, N.M.; son, Kevin (Kitty) Marshall of Green River; grandchildren, Presley and Talynn Lovato; Nadia Russell; and Holden, Spencer and Preston Marshall; brother, Leon (Diane) Maxfield of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Marilynn (Joe) Mazak of North Edwards, Calif.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rodger Dean Maxfield and Dennis Raymond Maxfield; and special friends, Bonnie Lee Adams and Rita Yates Hayward.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the Hanksville LDS Chapel, 59 South Center Street. Visitation will be Saturday at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hanksville Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Brian J.’Beanner’ Frederick
FERRON – Brian J. Frederick, age 34, passed away April 27, 2008.
Brian was born Nov. 15, 1973 in Bountiful to Gerry M. and Mary Anne Davies Frederick.
Brian was a truck driver for Barney Trucking and he was a member of the Ferron City Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, helping others and spending time with his family.
Brian is survived by his fianc�, Danielle Cornish of Ferron; his parents; children, Jasmine K. Frederick; Nickolas G. Frederick; Ashton D. Frederick; Corbyn J. Frederick; Kemmer L. Cornish, whom Brian loved and treated like his own son, all of Ferron; a special friend, Tanner Maxfield; grandparents, John L. Davies of Mapleton and Kathryn B. Frederick of Salem; and three siblings, KayLyn (Jeremy) Gallegos of Brigham City; David (Jade) Frederick of Huntington; and Jason (Kollette) Frederick of Mountain Home, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Lila Marjean Davies; and a grandfather, Myron R. Frederick.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at the Dutch Flat LDS Ward, 555 S. 400 West, Ferron. A viewing will be Thursday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, 720 North Center Street, and Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery.
LaVee Curtis Anderson
EAST CARBON – LaVee Curtis Anderson, age 86, died April 24, 2008 in Price.
She was born July 6, 1922 to William Ezra Curtis and Grace Chloe Lake Curtis in Castle Dale. She married Charles Woodrow Wyman in Price in 1937. They later divorced. In 1943, she married Aldon Q. Anderson in Soldier Summit.
LaVee spent most of her life in Provo. She later moved to Soldier Summit and ran the motel for five years. She and Aldon then moved to Helper and on to Tooele with her daughter. For the last 15 years, she lived in East Carbon.
LaVee was feisty, family oriented and loved to be at home.
She loved her animals, camping, fishing, cooking and baking, especially for her family.
Her children will always remember her homemade bread, fried chicken, pies and cakes.
She was the perfect example of how to love others – by doing for others. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Doyle C. (Ann) Wyman, Tooele; LaRita G. (Mike) Christen, East Carbon; Aldon S. (Carolyn) Anderson, Genola; Jody Newman of East Carbon; Robert R. (Bonnie) Anderson, East Carbon; and Irene Anderson, East Carbon; 21 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Berlee (Max) Long and Shirlee (Murry) Kemper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aldon; son-in-law, Ronald Newman; two brothers, Merrial and Doyle; and three sisters, Tressie, Arta and Irita.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Viewing will be Friday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery.

Bertha ShermanCollard Branch
ELMO – Bertha Eda Sherman Collard Branch, age 90, died April 29, 2008 in Elmo.
She was born Oct. 28, 1917 to Lyman Royal Sherman and Martha Ellen Jones in Huntington. She married Charles R. Collard on Oct. 16, 1933 at her father’s home in Huntington; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. After Charles death, she married Hollis Branch on Oct. 15, 1977 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Bertha was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints and worked in the Primary program for over 50 years.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a member of the senior citizens band.
She loved to dance and she line danced up until her illness stopped her.
Family was always first.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and attending family parties and outings.
She is survived by her children, Reynold Charles (Reah) Collard and Merrillyn Lermusiaux, all of Salt Lake City. She also raised three of Reynold’s children, Roland, deceased; Diane Collard, Salt Lake City; Debbie (Joe) Oveson; Claudia (Pete) Jensen, Elmo; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren; sister, Belva Mindrey; and stepsons, Roger, Bob, Kendall and Denny Branch and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; grandson, Roland Collard; son-in-law, Sonny Lermusiaux; 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the Elmo LDS Ward Chapel, 170 East Main. Viewing will be Friday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, 680 East 100 South, and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery
Gayla Anderson
SALT LAKE CITY – Gayla Ann Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and loyal friend, passed from this earthly existence on Saturday, April 26, 2008, after a valiant five month fight against cancer, never complaining, always hopeful and positive.
Gayla was born in Provo on Nov. 30, 1949.
Gayla was a devoted servant of the Lord and loved to attend church, as well as tell others of the grace and mercy she received from her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She leaves behind many who loved her, including her husband, Randy Charles Anderson, who cherished and adored her. They were the best of friends. She leaves behind two sons, William Dennis and James and his wife, Crystal Dennis, along with their son, her cherished grandson Kaleb. In addition, she is survived by her mother, Lucile Fotheringham; brothers, Bryan and Greg Frew; sisters, Sherrie (Randy) Willden and Lori (Kelly) Hiatt; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Anderson, Eddie (Margaret) Anderson and Richard Anderson; and sisters-in-law, Connie (Paul) Burtis and Merlynn Brown. She was preceded in death and welcomed with open arms by her late husband, Keith Wardell; father, Russell E. Frew; and sister, Jackie, whom she talked of often and expressed how much she missed her; as well as brother-in-law, Kent (Bucky) Anderson; and mother-in-law, Fern Anderson.
A viewing is scheduled Thursday, May 1, 6 to 8 p.m., Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake City, 460 West Century Drive, (off 4500 South) and Friday, May 2, 10 to 11a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to Laura Hancock for her dedicated service and constant care of Gayla these past few months, allowing Randy to continue to work and provide for their financial needs. In addition, special thanks to Harmony Hospice, Joan, Tammie and Kim, for their kindness and generosity to all of us the last few days of Gayla’s life.
