The Helper overpass at the north intersection of Highway 6 and Main Street is a terrible project. It has been a very troublesome and destructive overpass project.
It has disturbed traffic in every way. It has been a threat to all of the local businesses in Helper and I am sure that the good contractor will not make any profit from the project because UDOT engineers miscalculated the problems everyone is going through because of it.
The overpass as it now exists is much too narrow for traffic to safely move in both directions in this freezing weather. This project recently caused a bad accident during the Christmas holiday. Yes, the overpass will be wider when completed but how many accidents will happen until then?
A traffic light at this intersection would have been less expensive and probably much safer. Spanish Fork now has at least five such lights on Highway 6.
