Both of the CEU basketball teams are riding a three game winning streak after two consecutive weekends of beating the Colorado Northwestern Spartans.
This weekend the women beat CNCC twice. On Friday the team looked strong as they took a 83-46 win. Kendra Dalebout dished out 21 points and five assists. Maquette Potts was a whirlwind around the court with 13 points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Erin Richardson also got into the act with 14 points and eight assists.
Saturday afternoon was more of the same with Potts hitting her stride with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three steals for her second double double game of the weekend. Richardson matched Potts 14 and hit 3 trey’s. Dalebout had another solid performance with 12 and Brandi King hit for 10 while pulling in eight rebounds.
The CEU men also found more success against the Spartans, beating them 77-72 on Friday night. The Eagles completed a weekend sweep of Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday, defeating the Spartans 85-78 on Saturday afternoon.
Stephen Franklin and Felix Casperi each scored 17 points for CEU, and Darington Hobson added another 16 during the game Saturday. No stats were available for the Friday game.
The weekend moves the men into third place in the SWAC conference standings with a 5-2 record. SLCC is one game ahead at 6-1 with CSI leading at 7-0.
The Lady Eagles are currently tied for third with Northern Idaho at 3-4. SLCC is sitting at 6-1 and CSI leads the women’s conference as well at 7-0.
Both CEU teams return home this weekend with games against league-leading Southern Idaho Friday and Saturday. Friday night game times begin at 5:30 p.m.for the women and 7 p.m. for the men at the BDAC. The Saturday match-ups take place with games starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
