Kathyrn Lynn’Kitty’ Malone
HUNTINGTON-Kathyrn Lynn Malone, age 60, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden.
She was born June 21, 1947 in Huntington.
Kathyrn grew up and attended school in Emery County. She was a homemaker and was able to stay at home and raise her two children. She loved being with her family.
Kathyrn was a loving, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Kathyrn is survived by children, Morgan Malone, Price, and Brandon Denison, Roy; companion of 20 years, Greg Coleman; sister; Judy (Roy) Payton, Price; brother; Kent (Paulette) Kelly, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by mother, Ruth Taylor; Mason Taylor; George Kelly; and sister; Lisa Kelly.
Graveside services Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Huntington City Cemetery.
Rudy Scartezina
PRICE- Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Rudy “Scarty” Scartezina, age 85, passed away Oct. 1, 2007 at his home in Price.
He was born July 6, 1922 in Sunnyside to Guiseppi and Mary Barich Scartezina. Married Betty Williams June 27, 1942 in San Diego, Calif. She died March 31, 2004.
Rudy was a graduate of Carbon High School. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Rudy was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a longtime businessman.
He was a member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church; an honorary life member Price Elks Lodge 1550.
His hobby was restoring cars, which he did with professionalism. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and listening to Frankie Yankovich and Dean Martin.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his son, Dennis Scartezina, Price; three grandchildren, Jodi Scartezina, Salt Lake; Edward Scartezina, Cedar Edge, Colo.; Amber Lewis, Salt Lake; brother, Edward, Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Stella Gilligan, Albuquerque, N.M. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son Joseph Scartezina; brother, Francis; two sisters, Marie Moffat and Margaret Winters.
Funeral service, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Heart Association.
Hugh Saccomanno
SPRING GLEN – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Hugh Saccomanno, age 93, passed away Sept. 27, 2007 in Price.
He was born Dec. 26, 1913 in Spring Glen to Frank M. and Marianna Caruso Saccomanno.Married Katherine Rebol June 14, 1937 in Price.
Hugh was a lifetime resident of Spring Glen. He had a great passion for his farm and remained dedicated to its work his entire life.
He was a coal miner at Royal and Kenilworth for 23 years and retired from the Carbon County School District in 1975 with 19 years of service. He enjoyed working on his farm and he was a talented rock mason.
Hugh loved visiting with his family and telling stories about his life experiences.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by wife, Katherine; three children, Katherine (Boyd) Anderson, Spring Glen; Hugh Jr. (Delores), Helper; Bill (Connie),Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren five great-great-grandchildren, and his little buddy “Muffie.” He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Charlie, Ernest, Melvin, Pete and Geno; sisters, Carmella and Roseanna.
Graveside services were Sept. 29 at Mountain View Cemetery in Helper.
Arthur Kay ‘Zook’ Van Buren
ORANGEVILLE -Arthur Kay Van Buren, “Zook”, 62, finished his valiant battle with adenocarcinoma on Oct. 2, 2007 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.
He was born Aug. 13, 1945 to Fred Harold and Uwin Berg Van Buren in Ferron. He married Katherine Renee Ross in 1968 in Vernal. They are the proud parents of four boys.
He was raised in Emery County and served six years in the National Guard.
Art loved Emery County and living there with his family, who were the center of his life. He had a love for the outdoors and experiencing outdoor activities with his family. They all loved camping, hunting, fishing and being together, and with friends.
Art is survived by Kathy and the four sons he was so proud of; Rick (Wendy), LaPlata, N.M.; Cody (Daniella), Ogden; Corey (Shelby), Price; and Dusty (Doni), Orangeville. He is also survived by his mother Uwin; brother Kelly (Beverly), Cortez, Colo.; sisters, Roanna (LaDue) Scovill, Santaquin; Winifred Lippold, Centerville; Barbara (Ray) Olsen, Jerome, Idaho; and the 12 grandchildren who so lovingly called him “Ponkin,” Colton, Kaylee, Sydney, Matthew, Devin, Daxon, Cadence, Cambry, Talysa, Mitchell, Gage and Hunter. He will be remembered by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred.
A celebration of Art’s life will be Saturday, Oct. 6, at Cottonwood Elementary School, Orangeville. Viewing 10 a.m.to noon, with services beginning at noon. Interment, Orangeville City Cemetery.
