Lahoma Goodin

EAST CARBON/ELMO – Lahoma Alice Goodin, 75, returned to her Heavenly Father March 14, 2007 after a brief illness at Castleview Hospital.
She was born July 10, 1931 in Texhoma, Okla., to Alice Noble and John Texhoma Weatherly. She married Alton “Bud” Loy Goodin July 28, 1949 in Texhoma, Okla.
She was living at Turnquist in Elmo at the time of her death.
Alice Goodin was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She served on this earth in all she did with honor. Alice was a nurse from the “old school” ways, and was well known for her wonderful care of patients.
She loved the mountains and loved road trips. She never minded detour signs along the way that would take her along a winding mountain pass.
Alice and Bud were seen every Tuesday night for their date at the Star Grill enjoying each other, family and music.
She lived in Moab and worked at Allen Memorial Hospital, she also worked for several years at Castleview Hospital in Price. Alice was a member of the LDS church. We will miss our sweet mother and friend, her quiet strength and tender ways.
The family thanks the nurses and staff at Castleview Hospital, who took such good care of Alice while in the hospital. They went above and beyond for their fellow nurse.
Alice is survived by husband, Bud Goodin; children, Alton “Buddy” (Kathleen) Goodin of Wellington; Carolyn (Ken) Kay of Castle Dale; Detra (Peter) Borner of Montrose, Colo.; grandchildren, Boyd McFarland, Desiree Goodin, Nataleen Einerson, Richard Goodin, Stephen Goodin, Lisa Parberry, Jennica LeBaron; eight beautiful great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Weatherly of El Paso, Texas; and sister Sue Kaddatz of Dallas, Texas.
Services will be Tuesday, March 20, 11 a.m., at the East Carbon LDS church. Interment will follow the services at Castle Dale City Cemetery.

Mary Anderson

PRICE – Our loving aunt Mary “Louise” Anderson, age 88, died March 7, 2007 at the Parkdale Care Center in Price.
She was born Jan. 4, 1919 in Emery, to Wiley Pane Anderson and Camillia J. Romero Anderson.
Louise was raised almost all of her life in Carbon County. Starting at a young age she was asked by her brother, LaVon, to assist him in the care of his two children, Lucile and Guy, because of the passing in 1945 of the children’s mother, Georgia Pritchard Anderson. Then in 1954 Louise left LaVon’s household and went to take care of her aging father, Wiley Anderson, until his death in 1960. Louise sacrificed her life for her family’s needs.
However, she loved life. Her greatest joy was spending her days at the senior center, which she did for more than 40 years. The senior center and her friends were everything to her. She also loved to dance and especially loved Halloween. She also enjoyed when spring arrived each year so she could go camping over Memorial Day weekend in the motor home with family and friends.
Since she never married or had her own children, she had a very deep compassion for animals, especially strays. She also enjoyed going to church with her dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Tom McCourt, (although she tended to get a bit of “shut eye” during the service.) She was very humbled by her Heavenly Father.
Louise also was very proud of her “Hiawatha coal home,” and she loved her neighborhood. After the passing of her father, she became especially close to her neighbors and she would visit with them daily – many times at suppertime; and they would lovingly greet her with an extra place at the dinner table. She would also be seen around town everyday and since Louise never drove, her mode of transportation were here “two strong sturdy legs” until her serious foot injury in 1990.
She is survived by niece, Lucile (Erick) Erickson; nephew, Guy (Debra) Anderson; niece, Judy Anderson; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by six brothers and one sister, George B., Wilford Alfonzo, Harold (Red), Andrew Elroy, Ted Theodore, LaVon J., and Elizabeth (Beth) Parsons Anderson.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 18, 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. Burial will be on Monday, March 19, 11 a.m., at Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
The family thanks to Judy Anderson and Parkdale Care Center for their loving support towards Guy and Debra during the loss of their very special “Aunt Louise.” She was a true survivor and the strongest “little woman” we ever knew. We’ll never forget you; and without question, do it all over again. It was a grand journey Aunt Louise. We love you and we thank you for touching our heart and lives.
