Megan Garvin had the hot hand from downtown against Cedar.

The Lady Dinos traveled south to Cedar City on Friday to take on Cedar City. They came out on top 57-18. Then they went deeper into the south and Dixie edged them out in a defensive struggle 27-30.
Cedar took an early lead on Friday and had a two point edge at the end of the first period. That was the end on any offense from them as the rest of the game it was the Carbon show. The Dinos went to town and poured it on the hapless Redmen while they struggled to score. The Dinos outscored them 16-3 in the second; 19-0 in the third; and 14-5 in the fourth on their way to a one-sided rout.
Garvin was on fire from the outside and scored all 18 of her points from beyond the three point line. Patricia Smith had a good game with 12 points. Samantha Smith added a pair of threes and finished with seven.
The tempo on Saturday down in St. George was completely different for the Dinos. Dixie is playing their first season in the 4A ranks. They have always been a tough team for the Dinos. They had scouted the Dinos and put all their forces into shutting down the hot handed Garvin.
The Dinos shooting went cold as their outside game was shut down and no one wanted to go hard to the hole. The match up was similar to the loss to Canyonview two weeks ago. Dixie controlled the tempo and ended up with the win.
It was a good defensive effort from both teams. Carbon was held to eight second half points, scoring only two in the final period. The Dinos limited Dixie to four in the fourth as well.
Erika Potts led the Dinos with 12. They were hard fought points resulting from second chance rebounds and free throw shots after she got hammered.
The schedule does not lighten up for the Dinos. They host Uintah on Tuesday and then take on Morgan on Thursday. Morgan continues to reign number one in the 3A ranks. They gave Carbon a spanking up in Morgan early in the season and the Dinos want to come out and show show they are ready to play with the best. Both match-ups will begin at 7:00 at Carbon High.
