Carbon girls cross county battles the Emery Spartans last season.

On Aug. 28 Carbon traveled to Emery to dual with a strong Castle Valley opponent. According to Coach Stew Foster both teams were just getting into shape for the season and “only” ran 2.25 miles. When the dust settled the Carbon boys had beaten Emery by one point.
“We only had three girls compete,” said Foster “So Emery easily defeated the Carbon Girls. However a bright spot for the girls was a first place finish by Patricia Smith. Smith usually runs the 800 meter races in the spring, so this was a long one for here.”
The boys top finishers were, Beau Morley in second, followed closely by Jared Richens in third, Robert Lowe in sixth and Andrew Bates in seventh.
“Our number five man was Brett Wells in ninth place,” noted Foster. “All the kids did a great job during the first meet.”
The Dinos next meet will be Sept. 1 at the Moab Invitational.
