Whitney Williams goes for a steal against the Emery Spartans. The Dinos lost the contest 28-45.

The Lady Dinos have gotten good at digging themselves out of a hole, but Wednesday night’s game was too much even for the scrappy Dinos to handle. They went down to a stronger Emery team by the score of 28-45 to take their first region loss of the season.
Carbon could not get a bucket to drop in the first quarter and quickly found themselves behind 6-0 after one. Emery came out with an very strong press that overwhelmed the Carbon offense. With a couple of shots dropping in for the Dinos, it was still Emery who found their touch in the second quarter and they torched the Dinos for 18 more before the break. With a twenty point lead, Emery had all the momentum it needed to take control of the game.
Again as in many games of the season, the Dinos found themselves in the locker room needing to readjust their game. Even though Carbon began to find some range, Emery widened their lead to twenty six in the third. In a final push, Carbon whittled the lead to 17 to finish up the game.
Megan Garvin had eight on the night followed by Julia Potts with six. Garvin led the team with nine rebounds as well. The team just could not generate any sustainable offense against the Spartans to stay in the game. Coach Carlson had warned her team before the game that Emery was a team that they could not afford to get behind on and expect to come back. It wasn’t one of our best games,” she reflected, “there were just a lot of things we didn’t do and Emery’s press just gave us trouble all night.”
The team has a bye on Tuesday and resumes play at home against Delta on Thursday night. Game time is 7:00 for the varsity match up.
