The CEU men’s and women’s basketball squads played a pair of All-star teams on Saturday, December 30. As conference play is set to begin, it was an opportunity to shake off the dust and sharpen their fundamentals.
The CEU women took on a team of alumni all-stars who came back to challenge the current team. The Alumni were a bit rusty, but came to play a good game. The Lady Eagles kept control of the game from the start, but the alumni had a few surprise moves that kept the game fun to watch. CEU took the game 81-47. The women are 8-4 on the season.
The men matched up with a strong Metro all-star team. The all-stars pushed the game and had the lead a few times early in the game. The Eagles got their rhythm and made sure they put away their opponent down the stretch. They succeeded in downing the all-stars 120-112. They go to 10-1 overall.
Both teams will begin conference play in Salt Lake against Salt Lake Community College on Jan. 5 and 6. CEU men will play one more non-conference game at home on Wednesday against Casper College with tip off at 7:00 p.m.
