From sizzling hot to icy cold is the way Coach Dave Paur described the difference between the Lady Eagles home stand against Glendale and their weekend road trip to Wyoming. The team dropped three games this weekend due to a combined under 30 percent shooting for the three games.
Thursday the team started off with a 64-91 loss to Miles Community College. Friday the Eagles lost 80-90 to Sheridan College. On Saturday the team was edged out 60-61 by Casper College. It was a disappointing tournament for the team.
On Thursday against Miles College, Amber Strong led the Eagles with 16 points. She hit four three’s. Mile’s dominated the boards, out rebounding the Eagles 50-33. The Eagles trailed by 10 at the half and then let Miles run away with the game in the final period of play for the 27 point loss.
The teams stayed a little closer in the game on Friday against Sheridan College. They only trailed by six at the half. By the end though the lead for Sheridan had grown to 10 as they handed the Eagles their second loss. Kendra Delebout had the hot hand with 25 points for the Eagles. Veronica Siqueiros-15 and Brandi King-12 also posted double figures. Rachel Rasmussen had eight rebounds on the night.
By Saturday the team was hungry for a win. They took on Casper in a hard fought duel. The Eagles led by three at the break. But Casper came out of the locker room and shot 40% to CEU’s 20 percent and took the game by a single point to leave the Eagles winless in the tournament. Erin Richarson barely hit double figures with 12 to lead the cold shooting Eagles to their loss. King put up 10 points on the night. King made most of her points from the line, hitting 8 of 10. She was only able to hit 1 of 13 from the field, highlighting the struggle the team had over the weekend.
This weekend the team heads to Colorado to play in the CNCC Classic tournament.
