Starr Hal Guymon
HUNTINGTON – Starr Hal Guymon, age 87, our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, passed away Nov. 21, 2007 from cancer.
He was born June 25, 1920 in Huntington, one of 13 children born to Edward Montell and Minerva Mackelprang. He married Madge Johnson July 14, 1943 in Baltimore, Md.; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death May 3, 2006.
Dad was a mechanic and cattleman all his life.
A veteran of WWII, he served in Patton’s 3rd Army in Europe.
He was very active in his community and church, serving in various callings, including elders quorum presidency, high council, and bishop of the Huntington 1st LDS Ward.
He served as president of the Huntington-Cleveland Irrigation Co. Member of the Water Conservancy and Soil Conservation District. President of the cattlemen’s association and long-time member of the Utah Farm Bureau.
He loved music and sang with the Huntington Glee Club for over 50 years.He loved Gentry Mountain, where he ran cattle for many years.
Dad was a very patriotic, hard-working man of great honesty and integrity. He was honest in all his business dealings.
The way he treated and cared for our dear mother is a beautiful love story.
We will miss him dearly.
Hal is survived by children and their spouses, Courtney and Vee Guymon of Huntington; Lamar and Gayla Guymon of Huntington; Kay and David Phillips of Heber City; Vaughn Guymon, Huntington; 69 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Orilla Ungerman and Maurine Nielsen. Preceded in death by spouse; son, Larry; six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 26, at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Burial was in the Huntington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Lorna Davis
ORANGEVILLE/PAONIA, Colo. – Lorna Lorraine Fail Davis died on Nov. 20, 2007 in Paonia, Colo., after a mercifully short battle with cancer.
Lorna was born on April 28, 1929, daughter of Fred and Vila Fail, in Orangeville. She grew up there, graduating from South Emery High School and then attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.
It was while working as a secretary for Hadley Transfer and Storage Co. in Salt Lake that she met Donald Davis, a truck driver employed by Mayflower who decided on the spot that she was the only one for him. Lorna and Don were married on June 9, 1956. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 24, 1960.They made their home in the Salt Lake area until 1974, when they returned to Lorna’s beloved Orangeville.
Lorna and Don had only recently moved to Paonia, Colo. to be nearer to family members.
Lorna was very active in the LDS Church and, with Don, served two LDS missions – a welfare mission to Deseret Industries in Burley, Idaho, and a family history mission in Salt Lake City. She also worked for many years at the Emery County Courthouse in the auditor’s office.
Lorna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest wish was that her family continues to love each other. They are all grateful she’s been given the chance to return home with the parents and siblings she has missed so much.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Don Davis of Paonia, Colo; daughter, Sharon (Scott) Morley, Paonia, Colo.; son, Brent (Collette) Davis of Lehi; son, Garth (Debbie) Davis of Rock Springs, Wyo.; daughter, Jenny (Steven) Staheli of Goshen; 13, soon to be 14, grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vaughn Fail; and sister, Cleo Davis, both of Orangeville.
Viewing was Nov. 25 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at the Orangeville LDS Church. Interment was in the Orangeville Cemetery.
We love you, Mom, Lorna, Grandma and we’ll be OK. We know you’re where you want to be, but you will be greatly missed.
Brandon Ori
WELLINGTON – Our loving son, brother, uncle and friend, Brandon Paul Ori, age 29, passed away Nov. 20, 2007 in Price.
He was born Oct. 2, 1978 in Price to Louis P. and Tina Kellow Ori.
Brandon was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper, where he was an altar boy.
He graduated from Carbon High School in 1997. He was athletic and enjoyed all sports.
His number one priority was his family.
Brandon enjoyed riding motorcycles, listening to music, and watching movies.
He was an avid dog lover.
He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.

Jimmy Stevenson
PRICE – James Harold Stevenson, age 57, passed away Nov. 24, 2007 in Price while surrounded by his family.
He was born June 16, 1950 in Dragerton to Harold Thomas and Mary Stella Stevenson. Married Gaile Lorain Anderson, Aug.16, 1972 in Elko, Nev.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Carbon County. He was a graduate of East Carbon High School Class of 1968. He attended CEU, where he played basketball for both the high school and the college.
He shared a great love for sports and one of his greatest enjoyments was coaching Little League baseball for 12 years. His passion for the New York Yankees was only exceeded by the joy he shared with his ballplayers and the thrill of taking his team to the Little League World Series in 1989.
He enjoyed hunting with his boys and sharing time with his family and friends.
Jimmy was a fourth generation coal miner who worked at Kaiser Steel from 1969 through 1992.
He was a retired member of the UMWA local 9958 and was elected as the international auditor in 1992 for the United Mine Workers of America, where he served two terms. He also worked as the UMWA safety representative and organizer for many years.
He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Lorain Stevenson, Price; three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Kade (Becka) Stevenson, Huntington; Casey (Lacey) Stevenson, Vernal; Brandon (Cassidy) Stevenson, Price; Lacey (Kalib) Curtis, Helper; brother, Larry Stevenson, East Carbon; in-laws, James B. (Arline) Anderson, Wellington; brother-in-law, Jim Anderson, Spring Glen; and six loving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen L. Stevenson; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Anderson.
Funeral Mass Nov. 28,10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
Fred Dee Jensen
PRICE/WELLINGTON/WAKE FOREST, N.C. – Fred Dee Jensen, 59, passed away on Nov. 21, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family due to a short battle with cancer.
Fred was born on June 19, 1948 in Dragerton to Dale and Donna (Norton) Jensen. He was raised in Wellington and served a 1967 mission in the central states. Fred was a long-time coal miner of the Carbon County area. While in Carbon County, he married Susan Annette Pointer on July 2, 1982 in Wellington.
Fred and Annette resided in Price, where they began their family. They later moved to Hayden, Colo., where Fred continued his mining career.
Fred’s family spent several years in Colorado, then later made a career change as a state road inspector, which led him and his family to Raleigh, N.C.
Fred was the heart and soul of his wife, Annette, whom he loved so dearly.
He was so grateful to his children for all the love and care they give him throughout his life, but especially at the time of his illness.
He had a distinctive charisma and wit that transpired spirit to any crowd surrounding him. Fred had a passion for being around his friends, which extended to their expeditions in Castle Valley desert(s). He had a special love sharing his experiences with his family.
His hobbies were metal detecting, golfing, his garden and fishing in Alaska. He always looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with his parents on his yearly ‘Super Bowl’ trip to Nevada.
Fred is survived by his wife, Annette; four children, Cody Jensen, Wesley Jensen, Ashley Jensen and Samantha Jensen, all of Wake Forest, N.C.; parents, Dale and Donna Jensen, Wellington; brother, Randy Miles (Tracy) Jensen, Preston, Idaho; and sister, Dalana (Richard) Sicilia, Price; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Dec.3 at 11a.m at Wellington LDS Stake Center. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to help immediate family for travel expenses.
