William Wallace Preston Sr.
SUNNYSIDE – William Wallace Preston Sr., age 83, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Sunnyside to Samuel Leigh and Marion Kays Preston.
William’s father, the judge of Sunnyside, married William and Masel Fern on Sept. 7, 1944 in Sunnyside.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on Sept. 5, 1954.
William was a member of the U.M.W.A. Union and worked as a miner for the Kaiser Steel Mine for 44 years. He was an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.
He loved fly fishing, bow hunting when he was younger, playing pool at the senior citizen center, and spending time with his family on their various camping trips and the many outings they took together.
He is preceded in death by his wife, brothers and sisters, parents, and grandson, Billie.
He is survived by his 6 daughters, Sherry Shaff, East Carbon; LaDonna (Neil) Robertson, West Valley City; Kay (Richard) Lewis, East Carbon; Leighann (Larry) Martinez, Sunnyside; Mae Crank, East Carbon; Billie Jean (Guy) Koss, East Carbon; and one son, William Wallace (Sondra) Preston, Jr., Sunnyside; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Alta Preston.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at the East Carbon LDS Chapel – 145 Grassy Trail Drive.
Friends may call Friday, Nov. 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, and noon to 1:40 p.m. prior to services at the chapel.
Interment will be in the Sunnyside City Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
