It makes me ill to see what is happening to the Dino-Mine Adventure park. The vandalism that has occurred in the last two weeks makes my stomach turn.
Let it be known that the reward is growing as people contribute and the vandals will be caught and severely punished. Furthermore, it makes me ill to see what is happening each and every day in that park. The litter is astonishing, the mud flung all over the place, the piles of dog dung that our kids are stepping in trying to get to their favorite slides and swings.
Who is responsible for this? What are we doing to our beautiful playground that we spent so much time and money trying to create?
Parents, are you watching as your kids throw down their candy wrappers, pop cans and drink cups? Are you watching your dog relieve itself in our playground and doing nothing about it? Parents, are you watching as your kids “spill” or spread ketchup all over the railings and platforms? Parents, are you smoking as you watch your kids play and throwing down the smoldering butt in the middle of four tons of wood chips? Parents, are you even aware of where your kids are and what they’ve been doing at the Dino-Mine Playground, when they come home with mud all over them or your spray paint comes up missing?
Parents, let me remind you of the rules that are clearly posted at the entrance of the park so you can pass them along to your children. No littering. No dogs allowed. No food or drink inside the park. Tables and garbage cans have been provided around the perimeter of the park for picnics and snacks. No smoking. The park was designed for kids under 12 years old. The tire swing is not designed to hold three 15-year old kids.
Parents and grandparents, take action, take responsibility, teach your children these rules and make the effort to enforce them. If this park continues to be used as a garbage can it will be closed and we will all be forced to return to the mediocre playgrounds spread throughout the county.
Is that what you want?
