Mary Lou Haynes
PRICE – Mary Lou Reynolds Haynes died Oct. 1, 2006 in Huntington, W.Va.
She was born to Walter and Nellie Reynolds on Nov. 8, 1930 in Hoopeston, Ill. She married William Harrison “Bill” Haynes Jr. on Sept. 6, 1954 in Illinois. She lost Bill in a tragic mining accident on June 4, 1986.
Mary Lou was a registered nurse and worked in various hospitals in Birmingham, Ala., Salt Lake City and at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Mary Lou is survived by son, John Reynolds (Barbara) Haynes of Huntington, W.Va.; daughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Crumly of Price; grandchildren, Sherry (Jeff) Banks, Amy (Matthew) Lemley, John William Haynes, Jenna Ann Crumly and Katelyn Michelle Crumly and three grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lucille DeArman and HattieLee Haynes; brothers-in-law, Jerry Dahlquist and Donald (Miriam) Haynes; numerous nieces; and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by parents; husband; sisters, Vontella Dahlquist; in-laws, William Harrison (Evelyn) Haynes Sr.; sister-in-law, Margaret (Lester) Griffith; and brothers-in-law, Curtis Martin DeArman and Chris Haynes.
A memorial service will be at the Ascension St. Matthews Church, 522 North Homestead Boulevard, Price, on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s name to Ascension St. Matthew’s Church where Bill and Mary Lou were among the initial founding members of the church and remained members of the church until their deaths.
George Nuzio
EAST CARBON – Our wonderful brother, uncle and dear friend, George Nuzio, age 74, passed away Oct. 5, 2006 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born June 10, 1932 in Sunnyside to Fortunato and Suntina Farlaino Nuzio.
Member of the Catholic Church. George was lifelong resident of Carbon County and for a short time he worked for the D& RGW Railroad. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired member of Sunnyside Coal Local 9958. George enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, music and watching old movies. He will be dearly missed by family and a community of friends.
He is survived by sister, Vera (James) Avery, East Carbon; niece, Jeanette Marrow, Ely, Nev.; three nephews, David (Janene) Avery, East Carbon; Paul (Ann) Avery, Provo; Greg Nuzio, Ogden; and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Frank Nuzio.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m., at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Family will be at the church Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, under the directions of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
John Carlson
PRICE/IVINS – John David Carlson, age 78, passed away Oct. 7, 2006 in Ivins.
He was born Aug. 24, 1928 in Salt Lake City, to David Clarence and Janet (Jane) Jenkin Carlson. He married Beverly Sheldon Aug. 25, 1949, later divorced.
He graduated from Utah State University in 1960 in natural resources management. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, many of those years in Price.
He was an avid reader, an independent thinker and preferred a solitary but physically active lifestyle. He will be remembered for his love and respect of nature, hiking, exercise and the ability to strive for independent thought and study.
Survived by daughters, Jacque (Richard) Guymon, Sandy; Susan Carlson, Yuma, Ariz.; and son, Steve (Diane) Carlson, Price. Also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be at a later date in Ivins.
