Carbon’s Julia Potts floats one over a Delta blocker on Tuesday evening. Carbon could tie for the league next week against North Sanpete. |
With only a few more games to go before the state tournament, Carbon knows it can’t let up now.
The Delta Rabbits were hoping to slow down the Dinos, but Carbon was not about to let that happen. Not with a rematch next week against North Sanpete looming ahead.
Carbon took the Lady Rabbits in three straight games to keep their winning streak alive. Again the team got out to a flat start, dropping behind 6-10 before getting rolling. The squad took game one 25-19.
The Dinos kept the momentum rolling in game two and put a decisive win on the board over taking Delta by the lopsided score of 25-14.
The Lady Rabbits were not ready to concede defeat though. Game three was a close match with Delta hitting 22 points before the Dinos closed it out to take the match. The final score was the closest on the night with Carbon edging out Delta 25-22.
Coach Bean was still pleased with his team, despite some of the lapses. The slow start always frustrates him, but overall he felt that it was another solid team effort. He stated that they were trying a few new things and that it was good to see the success with the changes.
“We are ready for North Sanpete,” he said with a smile. “The girls want this game.”
North Sanpete is sitting at the top of Region 8 with Carbon right on their tails. The difference in the record is the win that North Sanpete registered earlier in the season over the Dinos. That match went to five games.
“Win or lose, we are going up there to play hard,” stated Bean.
The Dinos finish up their last two games on the road. They take on North Sanpete next Tuesday and Emery on Thursday before heading to the state tournament.
If Carbon beats North Sanpete they could still finish the regular season play with a first place tie.
