College of Eastern Utah will hold the annual Founder’s Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony on April 8.
The public is welcome to attend the 69th anniversary of the founding of the college where alumni, donors, athletes and community members will be recognized.
Dave Paur, CEU athletic director and the committee have selected Thomas Burr to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Burr is a retired educator and coach who attended Carbon College in 1949-50.
Nominated and selected for recognition as Distinguished Alumni of the college are Jayceen Craven Walker, Alene Etzel Bentley and George Hatsis, DDS.
Walker who is well known for her musical and drama talent is currently working on a major fundraising project for a non-profit organization.
Bentley has worked in Washington D. C. with Jim Matheson and is currently employed at Utah Power/PacifCorp.
Hatsis is a retired dentist whose career achievements include the design and development of dental equipment and innovative procedures along with major philanthropic and humanitarian projects.
Gold Circle donors who will receive the coveted Eagle statue are Michelle Cooper Fleck, Paul and Flora Keller, Todd Olsen, Jessie Embry and Mary Helen Powell.
Their financial contributions and commitment to the college have provided numerous scholarships for CEU students.
Deb Svetich Dull, who directs Utah Power/PacifiCorp community relations for the Carbon -Emery area, has been selected to receive the Eagle Award which is presented to an individual in recognition of commitment and service to the broader community. Dull has been instrumental in the success of many community projects and events.
The theme of the annual Founder’s Day event is “Legacy” and the evening’s program will focus on the generational legacies of the honorees.
