Henrietta Mathie
HUNTINGTON – Henrietta “Hedy” Mathie, age 86, continued her journey to our Father on Sept. 7, 2006.
She was born March 2, 1920, in Shelton, Iowa, to John and Altje “Allie” Priem VanCorler. Married Gerald H. Mathie Sr., Oct. 16, 1943, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 26, 1961. Gerald passed away on March 3, 2000.
“Hedy” was a homemaker and she managed all the finances for the family farm. She was a lovely woman with a soft and giving heart, who adored her family. She will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives she touched and whose hearts she strengthened.
She is survived by brother, Ernest VanCorler; sister Ethel Jacobsen; son, Michael Steven (Jeannie) Mathie; grandsons, Torrey (Stacy), Branden (Cassie), Derrick and Daniel; granddaughters, Natalie (Kenneth) and Sandy; great-grandsons, Gabriel, Kaisen and Alexander; great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Monica, Cassidy and McKinley. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Gerald H. Mathie Sr.; son, Gerald H. “Gary” Mathie Jr.; daughter, Deborah Kay Mathie; and brother, Edward “Dutch” VanCorler.
Funeral service was Monday, Sept. 11 at the Huntington 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
Grant Guymon
HUNTINGTON/OREM – Albert Grant Guymon passed away peacefully in Orem, on Sept. 1, 2006. He was born in Huntington, Oct 29, 1914, to Edward Montell and Minerva Mackelprang Guymon.
He spent his early years on the farm and the range. Graduated from Huntington High School in 1932, served the LDS Church in the Spanish American mission, 1937 to 1939, attended Utah State Agricultural College, 1940-1942, served his country in the United States Army, 1942-1947, attaining the rank of captain.
He married Elizabeth Lee Breece, Aug. 14,1943, and they were the parents of four sons and one daughter. They were later divorced. Married Estella U. Geary, Dec. 10, 1963. She survives him. Grant worked in purchasing for most of his career, and retired from the U. S. Forest Service in 1980. Always active and devoted to his faith, he served in numerous callings in the LDS Church, including a mission the Manti LDS Temple with his wife, 1981-1986. He enjoyed travel and visited most regions of the United States and many other countries. Be joined the Huntington Male Glee Club in 1932 and derived a great deal of satisfaction from music throughout his life.
He is survived by wife, Estella, of Orem; three sons and one daughter, Lee Grant and Marie of Roy; Robert Scott and Anne of Midvale; Steven Dwight and Claudia of Tucson, Ariz.; and Valinda and Jeff Frohschauer of Carson City, Nev.; step-children Edward and Janet Geary of Huntington, Sue Geary of Salt Lake City, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly remember rides on Grandpa’s tractor. Also survived by brothers and sisters S. Hal Guymon of Huntington; Orilla Ungerman of Bountiful; and Maurine Nielson of Provo. Preceased in death by parents; son, Kevin Wayne; five brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the Huntington LDS Stake Center.
Susan Blake
PRICE/AMERICAN FORK – Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Susan Kay Semken Blake passed away peacefully at home in American Fork on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 after a six month struggle with brain cancer.
She was born Sept. 1, 1948 in Price to Joyce Call and Charles H. Semken, Jr. She married Steven L. Blake in the Manti LDS Temple on Aug. 25, 1967.
She graduated from Carbon High School and attended College of Eastern Utah until she married and then enjoyed staying home and being a wife and mother. She lovingly raised six children and they in turn loved her.
She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose heart was filled with charity. She freely gave kind and loving service to all. Her recent service in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple brought her much joy.
She lived her life loving and caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren. Her time was filled with reading good books; cooking delicious dinners, where all were welcome; buying gifts for grandchildren; and constantly helping others.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend and a choice daughter of God.
Susan is survived by husband Steven L. Blake; children, Cynthia (Craig) Anderson, West Jordan; William J. Blake, Santa Fe, N.M.; Amy (Marc) Murri, Salt Lake City; Tamera (Chris) Bauer, Irvine, Calif.; Lisa (John) Brown, Hurricane; and Benjamin S. Blake, American Fork; mother, Joyce Call Edwards, Price; siblings Michael D. (Francine) Semken, Orem; Shanna (William) Taylor, Price; Renee Prinvale, San Mateo, Calif.; and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 13, 11 a.m., American Fork 10th LDS Ward, 500 W 700 North. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North in American Fork, and Wednesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the services. Burial, American Fork Cemetery.

Reed Livingston
PRICE – Thomas Reed Livingston, age 84, passed away Sept. 9, 2006 in Provo. He was born December 28, 1921 in Wales to Allen Reed and Mildred Lamb Livingston. His father was killed in Bingham Canyon when he was 5 years old and his sister, Leona, was 1 year old. His mother later married Burl O. Hoopes, of Lyman, Wyo.
Reed was in the U.S. Army Air Corps from Aug. 28, 1940 until Sept. 28, 1945. He was stationed first at March Field, Calif., then transferred to Scott Field, Ill., where he received training as a radio operator and mechanic. He later returned to March Field until after war was declared. His next base was Gowan Field in Boise, Idaho. He was there for 11 months before shipping out to Brazil, where he stayed until the end of hostilities. The Squadron was initially the First Communications Squadron, later changed to the Army Airways Communications System. He was recalled for the Korean War when the unit was activated. He served in the 1993 AACS Squadron until he was discharged in July 1953. Reed was a member of the American Legion Post 73 in Huntington and a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 3.
He held various positions in the LDS church most recently, secretary of Price 4th Ward high priest group.
Married Geraldine (Theda) Cowley March 20, 1947. They were blessed with three sons, Gerald Reed (Thelma) Livingston, Alien Lee (Gizial) Livingston, and Brent J. (Nancy) Livingston; stepdaughter, Diana (Neil) Scovill, all of Huntington.On Sept. 23, 1989 Reed married Dorothy Jensen and was again blessed by new additions to his family: stepchildren, Juanita (Bill) Llewelyn; Kathyrn (Terry) Cowley; Rand (Tama) Gordon.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by loving wife, Theda; parents; stepfather; sisters, Leona and Mildred; grandson, Matthew Scovill; great-granddaughter, Kyla Potter.
Funeral Service, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, 11 a.m., Price LDS 4th Ward. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main in Price on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery.
