Carbon’s Julia Potts goes for a bump in a recent game at home. Potts was injured during the game with Delta and may not be back in time for this weeks action. |
After a three hour trip to Delta, the Dinos came out to play a little travel weary on the Lady Rabbits home court.
Then after a slow start, they warmed up to beat their hosts in three straight. That puts the Carbon team with a 2-0 record in Region 8 play.
In the match they outscored Delta 25-23, 25-18, and 25-16.
Coach Bean was a bit nervous as his girls had trouble getting anything going in the first game of the match.
But after falling behind, the squad began to get it together and came back to win the first game by a close score.
That defeat took the wind out of the Lady Rabbits and Carbon just got stronger and stronger as the match progressed. The next two games were not the battle the first one was and Carbon went on to a three game sweep.
“The team was not as sharp as I’d like them to be,” Bean noted. However he was pleased with the way they battled back and found their momentum. He also felt like it was a good solid team effort.
“Nobody stood out with any flashy play,” was his assessment of the effort.
The squad’s passing was not as sharp as it had been in the previous game, but the team got the job done.
During the match setter Julia Potts went down with an ankle sprain and her ability to play on Tuesday is in doubt. The team will know more on Monday about her condition. A key player on the team, a lasting injury to Potts could have a telling effect on the squad.
The Lady Dinos have two home meets scheduled this week.
Today (Tuesday) they take on North Sanpete. Since it is also homecoming week, the team will take on Emery on their home floor as well. That game was scheduled to be played in Emery, but was changed.
Game time for the varsity match-ups starts at 6:30 in the Carbon High gym.
