It looked like the Dinos would continue their winning ways as they squared up with new Region 8 rival, Juan Diego. With both teams sitting at 3-1 in region eight play, neither knew what to expect out of the game.
Carbon’s squad jumped out to an early lead by pushing a run across in the first. Juan Diego did not answer with a score until the bottom of the second. The Dinos came right back with two of their own in the top of the third. That’s where the score remained until the bottom of the fifth.
With Aaron Sandoval on the mound pitching, the Soaring Eagles rocked the team for six runs. The small lead the Carbon team had been sitting on evaporated in a hurry. Down by four, the Dinos were only able to add one more to their total as they went down to defeat at the hand of their new region rival.
Sandoval tried to help his cause as her pounded out a three-base hit. J.J. Blue remained hot at the plate as he added another two-bagger to his stats. Each team had seven hits on the afternoon, but Juan Diego was able to convert most of theirs into runs as they outscored Carbon 7-4. Both teams also committed three errors.
The Dinos will get busy again with an away game against Union on April 19 and then return home to take on Granite on April 21. Carbon has dropped to 3-2 in region eight play and will be looking to better their position with a second win over Granite this year.
