Carbon’s Aaron Sandoval slides into home plate during the game on Friday. Carbon whipped North Sanpete 11-0.

If the Carbon High baseball team wanted to convince anyone they were out to defend their 3A championship from last year they must have persuaded North Sanpete on Friday night as they destroyed the Hawks 11-0 in a slugfest.
The Dino’s offense looked sharp as they hit North Sanpete with all they had. The Hawk’s pitcher was a bit wild in the early going but Carbon didn’t chase pitches and waited for just the right ones to hit.
They were able to put runs on the board in every inning but the fifth.
The team sent 11 runners across the plate and had 13 hits on the night.
JJ Blue hit a double and sent one over the fence in a great day at the plate. Aaron Sandoval also doubled and Brady Wilde and Kyle Assay tripled.
Adam Martinez went three for three at the plate as well. He was credited with four RBI’s as well.
Chase Julian was on the mound for Carbon and pitching well. He struck out nine in the game and went the distance in a complete game shut out. He allowed only two hits from the Hawks.
Carbon is now 3-1 in region play and they sport a 6-4 overall record. The team will take on Juan Diego on the road on April 11th. Juan Diego is also 3-1 in region play too, so it should be a good showdown.
They will give their next home performance on April 21 against Granite, a team they beat in five innings earlier in the season in Salt Lake City.
