Flying remote control airplanes is a big deal to the Desert Wings Flying Club. In fact, it is a favorite pastime for members who not only fly their aircraft, but also build most of their planes. Every Saturday morning, members can be found at the r/c airfield located next to the Carbon County Fairgrounds flying their planes. This Saturday however, the club will welcome the public to a fun fly and air show. Beginning at 8 a.m., pilots will take to the field during the open fly. Aircraft will also be on display and club members will be available to answer any questions from interested Carbon County residents. During the annual fun fly, the Spirit of Utah Air Show Team along with Rocky Mountain IMAC will conduct an airshow beginning at 11 a.m. this Saturday. Giant scale planes along with various other aircraft will fly during the show and entertain spectators. The event allows Desert Wings club members to showcase their planes as well as involve local citizens in their sport. Anyone interested in flying r/c airplanes should attend. In fact, the local flying club has had a complete starter plane (almost ready to fly kit) donated to the airshow drawing. The winner of the plane will also get a radio and engine to use with the aircraft. With a little construction, the plane will be ready to fly. The Carbon County r/c airfield is one of Utah’s premier flying facilities and will be the perfect location for a day of flying fun this Saturday. Carbon County residents are urged to attend and enjoy the festivities.
