Alice Jensen
PRICE – Alice Evelyn Waterman Larsen Davis Jensen, 82, passed away in Price on Feb. 12, 2006.
She was born May 3, 1923 in Price to George and Grace (Woolsey) Waterman. She married Archie A. Larsen, Owen B. Davis and Ray M. Jensen.
Alice was a member of the LDS Church and was active in the 3rd Ward. She served in the Birmingham-Alabama LDS Mission in 1979.
Alice loved baking, crocheting and dancing, especially square dancing. She won many awards at county and state fairs for her baking, canning and crochet work.
She was a volunteer in the community for many years.
The most important thing to her was her family.
Alice is survived by husband, Ray Jensen; children, Sandra (Joseph) Callor, Kenneth G. (Nora) Larsen, Archie Alan (Sheri) Larsen, all of Price; Dale A. (Frankie) Larsen of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous stepchildren and step-grandchildren of her marriage to Owen Davis and Ray Jensen, all of whom she loved. Also survived by sisters, Barbara Hunt of Wellington and Maxine (Henry) Mills of Kamloops, Canada. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Archie A. Larsen (killed Dec. 16, 1963 in a coal mine explosion); husband, Owen Davis; brother, Russel Waterman; sisters, Mildred Bonnell, Beatrice Randall and Betty Lou Williams.
Services will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 11 a.m., at the Price 3rd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Tony Tonc
HELPER – “Our Tony,”Anton Joseph Tonc, age 79, passed away Feb. 8, 2006 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Helper to Anton Joseph and Matilda Tercek Sluga Tonc on March 9, 1926.
He lived his entire life in Helper, graduated from Carbon High School and entered the service during World War II, serving as a sergeant in both the European and Pacific Theatre of Operations. Upon returning from the service, he met and married Edith Brackett on Sept. 19, 1947. They raised two wonderful sons, Anton J. Tonc and Vincent F. Tonc.
His family was his most important possession and he always put them first.
Tony started working at Standardville mine, and then worked for the U.S. Postal service for 43 years. He had the distinction of only missing and using two days of sick leave in all of those years.
Member of the Elks Lodge 1550, WSA Fraternal Union, American Legion, and was a dedicated volunteer for Helper city fire for many years.
He was a hard worker and a caring person who was always ready and eager to help others. He spent many years playing baseball and enjoyed coaching boys in basketball, football and baseball.
Tony enjoyed his polka, waltz, and he loved to dance with his wife.
He took great pride in the way he cared for and irrigated his yard and garden and shared his lettuce and tomatoes with many friends and family.
Survived by wife, Edith; sons, Anton Tonc, Vincent (Sheila) Tonc; five grandchildren, Tony, Nick, Aaron, Adrea, Shannon; three great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline (Martin) Ahlin; brother, Louie (Madeline) Tonc; sisters-in-law, Katie Ori, Netta Burton, Freda Bianco; many loving nephews, nieces and their families; and a community of loyal Helper friends. Preceded in death by parents; daughter-in-law, Susan Tonc; granddaughter, Brandi Leigh Tonc; brother, George Sluga; sisters, Matilda Yelenich, Ann Lipich, Helen Costello and Julia Zorn.
Funeral Mass was Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Vigil service was at 9:30 a.m. at the church in Helper. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper or a charity of your choice.
Rose Lantz
PRICE – Rose Anna Lantz, age 65, passed away Feb. 10, 2006 in Price.
She was born April 2, 1940 in Elkins, W.Va., to George and Anna Mae Johnson Zetty. Married James H. Lantz Oct. 11, 1958 in Galloway, W. Va.
Rose Ann enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling, camping and fishing with her family and traveling to Arizona.
She loved making her potato candy for her family during the holidays.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by husband, Jim Lantz Sr., Price; twin daughters, Felicia (Mike) Nelson, Golden Valley, Ariz.; Patricia (Brent) Howell, Helper; son, Jim (Jodi) Lantz, Price; brother, Lloyd (Nancy) Zetty, Volga, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Denella and Kayla Nelson, J.D. (Chrissy) Nelson, all of Flagstaff, Ariz.; Brittney, B.J., and Levi Howell, Helper; Dakota and DesiRae Lantz, Price; great-granddaughter, Carly Nelson, Flagstaff, Ariz.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside service Wednesday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m., at the Cliffview Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday one hour prior to graveside service.
Maxine Henningson
EAST CARBON – Maxine Blackburn Henningson, dear wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Feb. 6, 2006.
Born Dec. 2, 1928 in Clawson to Wayne Blackburn and Melba Jane Prows.
She loved to garden, fish, camp and be with family and friends. Always tinkering, fixing the unfixable! A feisty lady full of wit and compassion. She will be greatly missed.
Survived by husband, Neil Henningson; children, Shauna Erickson, Lisa (Tom) Tippetts, Denise (Irv) Hillman, Diane Oviatt, JoAnne (Jeff) Braby, Leonard (Terry) Dennison; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by five stepchildren, Kenneth (Sue) Henningson, Debbie Lien, Cecil (Donna) Henningson, Linda (Alan) Miles, Dennis (Claudia) Henningson; 19 step-grandchildren and 38 step great-grandchildren.
Services were at Fausett Mortuary on Saturday, Feb. 11. Interment, Ferron Cemetery.
A special thanks to her husband, Neil, for all the years of loving care he gave her. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
