Donald Fletcher
CLEVELAND – Donald Erickson Fletcher, 68, passed away Oct. 13, 2005 in Provo due to complications post surgery.
He was born Dec. 23, 1936 in Spring Canyon to Emmet Leonard and Iola Erickson Fletcher and raised by his foster parents, Dell and May Hiatt. He married Elaine C. Anctil on June 14, 1958 in Nashua, N.H., later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 14, 2001.
In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.
Donald was an outdoorsman and was happy when he was in the woods, whether he was hunting, fishing or four-wheeling. He had a talent for working with his hands, woodworking and painting.
His greatest joy was in spending time with his wife, family and little buddy “Duke.”
He is survived by wife, Elaine; children, Donald Fletcher of Boise, Idaho; Scott (Lydia) Fletcher of Price; Randy (Patty) Fletcher of Glendora, Calif.; and Sherrie (Chuck) Davis of Price; grandchildren, Joshua, Joni, Julie, Jacob, Jordan, Lexi, Davey, Sarah, Farrah, Brandon, Brad, Bryon, Maria, Sky, Jack, Andrea, Harrison, Joe, Heather and Zoe; and one great-grandchild. Also survived by sister, Kathryn (Jim) Ward of Cleveland; and brothers, George (Phyllis) Fletcher of Walla Walla, Wash.; Dan (Dorothy) Black of Huntington; and Micki Fletcher of Sicklerville, N.J. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Leonard Fletcher; and sister, Deanne Jensen.
Services were Monday, Oct. 17, at the Cleveland 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Meg Smith
EAST CARBON – Anna Margaret “Meg” Smith, age 73, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005 at her home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1932 in Loudon, Tenn., to Joe and Pearl Lane Courtney. She was raised “in the country” near Greenback, Tenn., amidst a large and loving family.
She continued her education at Tennessee Wesleyan, the University of Tennessee, and was a nursing student in Norfolk, Va., when she married the love of her life, Wesley E. Smith on March 31, 1954.
Meg’s greatest love was her husband and family, and they knew it. Her selfless devotion, generosity and unfailing support made her not only the best wife, mother and grandmother, but our best friend as well. Her favorite place was the cabin at Trout Lake. The beauty of the area being a reflection of the beauty of her soul.
She loved sports, especially football. Immediately after attending a live Broncos football game in Denver, she was ready to go again. She was always ready to go, Meg loved to travel. She enjoyed many trips with family and friends.
When home, she read, worked jigsaw puzzles, gardened and watched football. She enjoyed the Christian fellowship and friendship of the good people at the East Carbon Community Church.
Survived by son, David Smith, Colorado Spring, Colo.; daughter, Helen (Rick) Nielson, Maybell, Colo.; grandchildren, Star Hecke, Courtney Smith; brothers and sisters, Dolly Alexander, Norfolk, Va.; Kat Hudson, Frank Hughs Jr., both of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Clinton Courtney, Maryville, Tenn. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Wesley Smith; brothers and sisters, Juanita Courtney, Henry, Joe, Kenny, Nardy, Dutch and Ted Courtney; and Buster Hughs.
Memorial service Saturday, Oct. 22, 3 p.m. at the East Carbon Community Church under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the East Carbon Community Church, P.O. Box 39, East Carbon, UT 84520.
Roxie Winder
MOAB – Roxie Black Winder passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2005 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Moab.
She was born Feb. 8, 1915 in Blanding to James Acel Black and Susan Catherine Davidson Black.
Roxie was a long-time resident of Moab, and worked for years as a cook in local schools and restaurants. She will be greatly missed and is remembered by family and friends as a loving example of hard work and enduring through life’s challenges.
She is survived by children, Juanita Atwood of St. George; Grant Winder of Snowflake, Ariz.; Ivan Winder of Moab; and Susan Mead of Moab; foster children, Lena Jaques of Ft. Defiance, Ariz.; Berniece Curtis of Ogden; and Ira Deschine of Window Rock, Ariz. She is also survived by sisters, LaDean Wright and Kaye Gibson; brother, Luis Black; 25 grandchildren; more than 50 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by father and mother; husband, Wallace Winder; son, Charles; brothers, Ben, Richard, Fonzo, VerDell and Jimmy; and sisters, Leona, Thelma, Rose, Edith and Marjorie.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Moab LDS Stake Center. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery.
Edna Charlesworth
PRICE – Edna Elsie McDonald Charlesworth, beloved mother and grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father, Oct. 16, 2005 at the age of 88.
She was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Clear Creek, the daughter of Frank and Idona West McDonald. She married Lewis Charlesworth on Dec. 24, 1934 in Price, later solemnized June 8, 1976 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Edna spent her life in the service of her family and friends and was never happier than when she was serving the Lord. She served in stake leadership positions in both the Primary and Relief Society, including a guide patrol leader in the Primary. Over the years many men have approached her and thanked her for the loving influence she had on their lives.
Edna is survived by two sons and two daughters, Robert L. Charlesworth of Saratoga Springs; Dennis F. Charlesworth of Heber City; Myrna L. Richards of Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. William (Carol Lynn) Attridge of Riverton; 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters, Jacque Dennis of Eureka, Calif.; and Dona Lee Stewart of Roosevelt. Preceded in death by husband, Lewis; brother, Carlyle McDonald; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 22, noon, at Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
