Orignal announcements about the Southeastern Utah Energy Producers Association’s “Energy Days Symposium” at the College of Eastern Utah included a two day session, but the association has since revamped that program into a one-day event slated for June 16.
The program will consist of a conference schedule on Thursday at CEU with a banquet that will be held on that night at the Price Elks Club. The dinner will feature Utah lieutenant governor Gary Herbert, who will make an important statewide energy announcement during his address and J. Brett Harvey, the CEO of Consol Energy.
Tours of various sites on June 15 and the exhibit hall that was supposed to be in the BDAC on June 16 have been cancelled.
Thursday’s program will consist of special meetings concerning energy and energy development after the conference is opened by Ken Payne, president of the association, at 11 a.m.
That afternoon the symposium itself will consist of a legislative committee meeting at 1 p.m. and a meeting on coal mining/power generation at 2:30 p.m.
Speakers that have been invited to share their expertise during the program include Mike Styler, the Executive Director for the Utah Department of Natural Resources; John R. Bazza, who is currently the director of the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining; Alice Carlton, supervisor of the Manti-LaSal National Forest; James Kohler, a geologist specializing in coal development; Ernest E. Wessman, a vice president at PacifiCorp; and Jim C. Norton, the director of administrative services at the Hunter Power Plant.
Some of the invited guests include county commissioners from Carbon, Emery, Sevier, Sanpete and San Juan. The Grand County council has also been invited.
