Darrell Wallberg
WELLINGTON – Darrell Wallberg, age 71, passed away June 6, 2005, at his home in Wellington surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Salt Lake City to Leland H. and Jenny Studham Wallberg. He married Darlene Giles Oct. 26, 1952 in Elko, Nev., later solemnized in the Vernal LDS Temple.
Darrell has been a truck driver all his life, since he was 12 years old. He loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping, especially with his family. He enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns but most of all, he loved passing the time of day with the grandkids.
He is survived by wife, Darlene of Wellington; children, Melvin and Carol Wallberg of California; Darrell and Julie Wallberg of Nevada; Debra and Gary Motte of Wellington; Ronald and Delia Wallberg of Roosevelt; James Wallberg, Dona and Paul Hazelwood, all of Wellington; and Dwayne and Izora Wallberg of southern Utah; 55 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Leland Wallberg; and sisters, Phyllis McDonald; Bonnie Chambliss, both of Carbonville; and Genevevie Wallberg of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Raymond and Marvin; sisters, Melba, Josephine, Dorothy and Margie; granddaughter, Sandra Dee; and great-grandsons, Jason and Nathaniel.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 1 p.m. in the Wellington LDS Stake Center, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial, Wellington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Blain C. Marx
PRICE – Blain C. Marx, age 81, passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure June 8, 2005, surrounded by loved ones at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Clear Creek to Alvin LeRoy and Wayne (Cloward) Marx.
He married Winona Erickson in Wellington on May 20, 1944, solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 20, 1946. She passed away in July 29, 1983.
Blain married Glenna Bair Mele on Feb. 16, 1985, in the Provo LDS Temple.
He served our country in World War II. He loved fishing, bowhunting and spending time with his family. He served faithfully in many callings for the LDS church.
He is survived by children, Ron (Tabitha) Marx, Orem; Linda (Duane) Johnson, Price; Janet (Charlie) Roedel, Price; Larry (Anita) Marx, Roosevelt; Paula (Ted) Larsen, Price; daughter-in-law, Mary Marx, Price; stepchildren, Domenic Mele, Tacoma, Wash.; Marilyn (Joe) Graham, Price; Cindy (Barney) Marchello, Price; Keith (Careshmeh) Mele, Price; Kevin (Chris) Mele, Price; brother, Floyd (Verda) Marx, North Salt Lake; sister, Ada Oakden, Price; brother, Jay (Margherete), Price; sister, Pauline (Murray) Shorts, Price; sister, Maxine (James) Rhinehart, Price; sisters-in-law, Nadine Marx, Price; and Dorothy Marx, Logan; 48 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Winona; sons, Richard B. Marx, Douglas Wayne Marx and Bryan C. Marx; sisters, Lucille Marx and Eloise World; brothers, Clyde, Kenneth and Verdell; and infant brother, Earl.
Viewing will be Friday, June 10, 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 E. Main in Price. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 11 a.m. in the Price LDS 3rd Ward Chapel with viewing one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Demetra Diamanti
PRICE/OAKLAND, Calif. – Demetra Kanellos Diamanti passed away May 14, 2005.
She was born June 17, 1933, to Maria and Angelo Kanellos (both deceased). Demetra married Carbon County native Gregory Gust Diamanti in 1955 and moved to Price.
Raised in “Greek Town” McGill, Nev., with her brother, William Kanellos. Demetra represented White Pine County at Nevada’s Girls’ State; graduated White Pine High School 1951; attended college in Pocatello, Idaho, followed by a human resources position with Kennecott Copper. In 1960 they moved to Oakland, Calif., with daughter, Dena. Daughter Maria came along in 1965. Demetra was very active in her daughters’ lives: PTA, room parent, Girl Scouts, etc. She was devoted to her faith and parish, as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, Greek Festival booth chair, Philoptochos and bible study member. She was the founding secretary of the Roumeli Society. Sons-in-law, Dean Valavanis and Nick Zegenis completed her family and both called her mom. We know she will miss us all but most especially her very precious grandsons, Fotis Evan Valavanis and Vasili Nicholas Zegenis. Demetra was a mentor and translator for many Greek friends. Unofficial hobby: new restaurant sightings, complete with critique. Her love for her family and friends was shown through her wonderful smile, fabulous cooking and ever ready problem solving abilities. Throughout her six-year kidney failure journey one thing never failed, the devotion and loving care to her by her husband, Gregory. May her memory be eternal!
Her Trisagion and funeral services were at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, 4700 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, CA 84602. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Ascension Chapel Fund at the address above.
