Police arrest, book suspect in stabbing

A 36-year-old Price resident is in custody at the Carbon County Jail after allegedly attempting to commit a murder early Monday morning.
Price city law enforcement officers took Alan Shane Lunelli into custody after the subject allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old female multiple times.
Police investigators indicated that the alleged stabbing victim, Christy Christensen, called public safety dispatch slightly before 3 a.m. on Dec. 12 requesting an ambulance.
At that point, Lunelli reportedly took the telephone from the alleged victim and told dispatchers that he would shoot any law enforcement officers who responded to the call.
Police and paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Price Officer Brian Judd responded to the scene along with Deputies Frank Pero and Jeremy Lamph from the county sheriff’s department and Helper Policeman Trent Anderson.
The law enforcement investigators indicated that Lunelli purportedly engaged the police in a standoff lasting approximately 15 minutes.
In addition to Christensen and Lunelli, six individuals, all children, were reported to be in the home at the time of the alleged incident.
Capt. Kevin Drolc indicated that all six of the youth were Christensen’s children and at least one was Lunelli’s.
The Price police captain said Lunelli had purportedly taken the alleged victim against her will approximately three hours earlier.
“He had her against her will for about three and a half hours,” said Drolc.
The Price police captain added that, during that time, Christensen was reportedly tied, beaten and stabbed.
Lunelli reportedly held Christensen and threatened to kill her, then take his own life, explained Drolc.
After the brief standoff, law enforcement authorities indicated that Lunelli exited the home willingly and was taken into custody without incident by police on Dec. 12 at 3:14 a.m.
Prior to the alleged attempted murder incident, Drolc said a protective order had been issued against Lunelli, barring the attempted murder suspect from contacting or dealing with Christensen.
Further, the Price police captain indicated that Christensen and at least one of the children were witnesses in the alleged case prompting the court to issue the protective order. The first case remains under investigation.
In addition, the Price police department will continue to investigate the alleged attempted murder.
After surrendering to law enforcement authorities, Lunelli was arrested on charges of attempted homicide, domestic violence in the presence of a child, witness tampering, kidnapping and protective order violation.
