Swim team competes against eight others in Cedar City

The Carbon High swim team went out on a limb to compete against some very tough teams in Cedar City last weekend and came out with some valuable experience toward future meets.
Neither the boys or girls team took high honors in the nine team meet, but individuals on the team competed well and took away some lessons that will be valuable. The girls team came away with a scored of 64 points, which placed them in last place.
The boys team did slightly better, scoring 115 points and taking eighth place in the meet.
Lehi High School won the girls meet with 387 points while the boys competition was headed by Wasatch with 334 points.
In the girls category, Carbon’s April Sorensen took 22 seconds off her time in the 200 IM. She also took .92 off her time in the 100 backstroke.
Bonnie Peterson took 3.62 seconds off her time in the 200 IM and them finished well in the 100 butterfly.
Ali Baum took 1.36 seconds off her time in the 100 free and then 5.23 seconds off her previous time in the 200 free.
Kelsie Gillespie took 1 second off her time in the 100 free and 1.62 off her time in the 50 free.
Megan Brandon took a large 4.77 seconds off her previous best time in the 100 back and then knocked another 4.26 seconds off her 50 free time.
Erica Perkins took 7.0 seconds off her previous time in the 100 free.
In the boys competition Leo Yu took .76 seconds off his time in the 50 free and then finished ninth out of 22 swimmers in the 100 back.
Thomas Peterson took 2.69 seconds off his time in the 100 fly and then also took off .82 seconds in the 100 breaststroke.
Jimmy Dilley took a huge 22.47 off his time in the 500 free and then 5.52 seconds off his time in the 200 free.
Terrance Henrie had the largest reduction in time off his previous time in the meet when he took off 27.93 seconds from his time in the 500 free. He also took off 5.52 seconds in the 200 free.
Cameron Noyes took .35 seconds off of his previous time in the 500 free.
Randy Slane took 1.11 seconds off his time in the 100 back.
Ryan Slane competed for the first time in the 100 fly and came in 17th.
Michael Rigby took 4.06 seconds off his time in the 200 free.
TJ Cook took 14.07 seconds off his previous time in the 100 back.
Jordan Nelson took off 7.41 seconds off his time in the 100 breaststroke and then took another .67 seconds off in the 50 free.
Jerid Clark took 2.87 seconds off his time in the 100 free and a whopping 22.38 seconds off his time in the 50 free.
Richard Pendleton took 13.27 seconds off his time in the 100 free and then also took off .36 seconds in the 50 free.
Logan Perkins took 2.64 seconds of his time in the 50 free.
Steven Vogel and Thomas Etzel both competed in the 50 free for the first time in the swimming careers and did well.
In the relays Carbon’s teams finished well, with some time reduction in the 200 Boys Medley Relay with a reduction of .5 seconds. That team consists of Yu, Peterson, Rigby and Dilley.
In the 200 free relay the boys team took off 3.29 seconds. That team includes Peterson, Killey, Rigby and Yu.
