The Lady Dinos Morgan Warburton sizes up a Delta player before deciding to pass or drive in a close game that went into overtime. Carbon won the contest 53-45 in an overtime period.

Carbon High faced Delta Tuesday, sending the game into overtime with a score of 43-43 at the end of regulation.
Sinking one foul shot after another, Carbon ended the game, winning 53-45 to chalk up their second regional win.
It was a hard one for Carbon as they struggled through the entire first half. Delta outscored them 16-10 in the first period and then went on to score more in the second period as well.
Down by nine at the half, the Carbon team came back however. The Dinos allowed the Rabbits three field goals in the second half, keeping Delta to just 12 points and while scoring 23 themselves. In the third period they only allowed the Lady Rabbits two points.
The Carbon team also dominated the overtime outscoring the competition 10-2 to win the game. Defense in the second half won the game, but the Dinos still gave away five three-pointers to Delta, who averaged 63 percent from the floor.
It was a scare for a Carbon team that now has the best record amongst 3A girls basketall teams in the state now that Morgan has lost two games to the Lady Dinos one. However, Morgan continues to dominate the state rankings despite the desparity.
Carbon averaged 75 percent from the floor during the game with senior Halee Rasmussen leading with 17 points and the only three-pointer for her team. Senior Morgan Warburton had 15, one of her lowest outputs of the year; junior Jamie King scored nine, junior Tabby Cummins with six; and freshman Erika Potts, junior Meesha Rasmussen and junior Danielle Martino, each with two.
It was the first game this year that Warburton did not dominate the scoring for the Dinos.
The No. 2 ranked Carbon High girls now stand 12-1 and they go up against the North Sanpete Hawks in Mt. Pleasant tonight at 7 p.m.
