Carbon swimmers go to invitational, hold dual meet at home

Carbon High swimmers had some great performances at the Richfield Invitational on Nov. 12 and then came home and dominated a dual meet with Granite held at the Price pool on Nov.15.
In Richfield Leo Yu, a junior placed well in the meet and took 231 seconds off from his 100 yard fly and 3.22 off his 100 back.
Michael Rigby, a sophomore, took the top spot of time off his events. He took 23.64 seconds off his 200 free and .04 off his 100 free.
Thomas Peterson, a sophomore, listened to some good advice and took 14.46 off his 200 1M and 4.45 seconds off his 100 breaststroke.
Terrance Henrie, a freshman, took 11.78 off his 50 free and got a best time in the 500 free (with broken goggles). Jordan Nelson, a freshman, took 5.54 seconds off his 300 breaststroke and got a best time in the 100 free. Cameron Noyes, a freshman, took 5,08 seconds off his 50 free and got a best time in the 100 back. Randy Slane, a freshman, took 1.1 seconds off his 200 free. Jimmy Dilley, a junior, took .43 seconds off his 500 free. Ryan Slane, a freshman, swam two best times in the 200 free and 500 free. Logan Perkins, a junior and new swimmer, also swam a best time in the 100 free.
The girls team also swam well with Morgan Johnson, a freshman, taking 14.54 off her 100 free and 8.75 off her 100 breaststroke.
April Sorensen, a sophomore, took 5.04 off her 200 IM swimming well in the 100 back and getting her best time of the year so far.
Megan Brandon, a sophomore, took 4.10 off her 200 free and swam her best time of the year in her 500 free. Ali Baum, a sophomore, took .68 seconds off her 50 free. Erica Perkins, a freshman, had two best times in her 50 free and her 100 fly. Kandice Owen, a freshman, swam two best times in the 50 and the 100 free. Ameilia Owen, another freshman, swam a best time in the 200 free.
Finally at the Richfield meet Danae Riche, a sophomore, who has an injured shoulder, swam well.
In that meet three boy swimmers took first in two events. Yu took first in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Rigby took first in 100 and 200 free. Finally Peterson took first in the 50 free and 100 fly.
Others taking first place in the meet were Dilley with a win in the 500 free and Slane who placed tops in the 100 back.
Second places included Noyes in the 200 free and 500 free, Dilley in the 200 IM, Ryan Slane in the 100 fly and David Youso in the 100 back.
In the girl’s meet two swimmers took first place in two events. Sorensen took first in both the 200 IM and the 100 back and Baum took the top spot in the 200 free and the 100 breaststroke.
Other girls placing first included Brandon in the 500 free, Perkins in the 100 fly, Kelsey Gillespie in the 100 free and Kelli Padgett in the 50 free.
Second place finishers included Brandon in the 200 free, Gillespie in the 50 free, Padgett in the 100 breaststroke and Amada Ewan in both the 500 free and the 100 back.
The next meet will be on Nov. 22 Uintah and South Summit at the Price pool.
