Sigifredo Trujillo
HELPER/FARMINGTON, N.M. – Sigifredo Trujillo, 83, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 in Farmington, N.M., following a lengthy illness.
Sigifredo was born Dec. 21, 1921 in Monero, N.M., to Jose Braulio and Josefita Lara Trujillo. Married Lugy Montoya Stocker, both former residents of Helper. Later divorced.
Sigifredo served his country proudly, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He loved dancing, going to the casino and raising Chihuahua puppies.
He is survived by son, Joe B. Trujillo; daughters, Nancy Montoya, Alice Flores, Abbie Martinez, Ida Gutierrez, Gladys McKendrick and Frieda Archuleta; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Facundo Trujillo; sisters, Asencionita Trujillo, Dulcenea Abeyta, Geroveva Valdez and Marcella Rivera. Sigifredo was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Jose, Wilfredo and Gilberto; and son, Luciano Trujillo.
Services were August 20, at Rosa de Saron Church. Burial, Memory Gardens Cemetery in Farmington, N.M.
William Darter II
SPRING GLEN – William S. Darter II, age 88, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at home after suffering a major stroke on June 18, 2005.
He was born May 21, 1917 in Miles City, Mont., to William S. and Elizabeth (Brown) Darter. He married Glenna V. Colbaugh March 13, 1943 at Alamogordo, N.M.
He was a self-educated man having to leave school after junior high school to help at the family farm.
He enlisted in and then served in the Army Air Corps as a plane mechanic on the P 47 Thunderbolt aircraft during World War II having achieved the rank of sergeant. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force.
Following the war Bill moved to Delta, Colo. He then lived in Front Royale, Va. And Fountain, Colo., while working on his master plumber’s certificate and in 1955 returned to Delta, Colo. Where he lived until moving to Helper in 1997. During his residence in Delta he had worked for the Holly Sugar factory part time, but spent most of his career as a plumber. He retired in the mid 1980s.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta, Colo., for over 50 years, and was active in the First Baptist Church of Wellington.
He enjoyed reading and gardening. He also considered himself the “watcher on the wall” to the extent that he wrote many letters to the editor in both Colorado and Utah. His passion was in writing newspaper submittals as “Your Utah Informer”. He personally wrote each and every legislator in Colorado and Utah, plus many Federal congressmen. He personally helped support over 30 political organizations and charities.
He is survived by brother, Ray (Rosemary), San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth (Libby) and Ken Holton, Delta, Colo.; Rev. Sarah Darter, Grand Terrace, Calif.; Kay and Dave Anderson, Los Lunas, N.M.; three sons, William S. III and Vera, Woodbridge, Va.; James and Fran, Helper; Rick and Tiew, Grand Terrace, Calif; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Glenna Darter on April 3, 1995; parents; one sister; and two brothers.
Interment was at Mesa View Cemetery, Delta, Colo., Aug. 22, with full military performed by honors by Lee Marts VFW Post 3571, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home, Price and Mesa View Mortuary, Delta, Colo.
Gwynneth Castagna
WELLINGTON – Gwynneth Harrison Castagna, age 73, passed away Aug. 20, 2005 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
She was born Dec. 9, 1931 in Wallasey, Birkenhead, England, to Rees Owen and Elsie Alexandra McCormick Williams. Married Charles C. Castagna Jan. 14, 1953 in Birkenhead, England, and they later renewed their vows on May 12, 1997. He passed away on June 20, 1997.
“Gwen” loved crafts, cooking, yard sales, caring for her family and spending time with her great-granddaughter Danyelle Hutson. She especially loved her special granddaughter Nathina Castagna who was at her side from the time she became ill until the angels came to take her home.
Survived by two sons and two daughters, Charles (Deona) Castagna, Price; Gwen (James) Abney, Techachapi, Calif.; Candy Castagna, Palm Springs, Calif.; Jason Castagna, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Leann Castagna, Helper; two brothers and one sister, Arthur Williams, New Zealand; Winnie Williams, Kenny Williams, both of England; 16 loving grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husband; and son, Mike Castagna.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 24, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Linda Trauntvein
PRICE – Our beloved mother, grandmother, niece and friend has reunited with her true love once again. Linda Kay Trauntvein, 62, passed away peacefully at home August 18, 2005 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with health problems.
Linda was born July 13, 1943 to Lucille and Pedro Perez in Grand Junction, Colo. She was a lifetime resident of Price and later married her love, Neldon Lee Trauntvein. She was the best mother anyone could ask for.
Linda enjoyed many years of bowling and any activity as long as it was with family and friends. She was also a delegate of Price. Linda was the backbone of the family that kept us all together. Children were her life whether it was her own family or the many young lives she touched as a daycare provider. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survived by daughters, Bridget Denny, Yvette Trauntvein-Wood, Linda (Deke) Kraushaar, and Nicole Butkovich, all of Price; grandchildren, Clifton (Sheena) Barker, Brookville, Ind., Christopher Denny, Dwight Denny, Chantell Denny, Ritchie Wood, Neldon Trauntvein, Dekota Kraushaar, and Nicholas Butkovich, all of Price; aunt, Margie Huerta, Grand Junction, Colo.; uncle, James Huerta, Grand Junction, Colo.; uncle, Raymond (Vivian) Huerta, Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Carol (C.D.) Trauntvein Linker, Reno, Nev.; sons-in-law, Garth Denny, Ritchie Wood, and John Butkovich, Price; many cousins; extended family and best friend, Elayna (Marinoni) Falsone and children. Also a special thanks to Stanley Shelton of Gypsum, Colo., who helped in the love and support of our family. Preceded in death by parents, Lucille and Pedro Perez; aunt, Cecilia Huerta; and husband, Neldon Trauntvein.
As requested, no services were held but the doors to Linda’s house will be open to all as they always were.
