Colton Petersen
FERRON/ROOSEVELT – Colton “Colt” Petersen, age 29, of Roosevelt, formerly of Ferron, passed from this world on May 4, 2005.
He was born Dec. 28, 1975, in Mt. Pleasant, to Gary T. and Sandra Anderson Petersen. He married Amanda Jo Dixon Aug. 28, 1998 in Elko, Nev.
Colton loved living, he found joy in everything that he did, which included spending time with his family, hunting, rodeo, cat fishing, dancing the country swing and much more. He was a comedian/storyteller who brightened every room that he entered. He was an excellent welder, horseman, farrier and all around handyman. He took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a kind and generous soul. He adored his children and was a loving and proud father. He was a generous and caring husband and was in turn adored as a husband, father, brother and son.
He is survived by wife and best friend, Amanda; children, Shane, Aiden and Lea Rose, all of Upalco; mother, Sandra (Larry) Boren, Ferron; father, Gary T. Petersen, Ephraim; one brother, Larry Adam, Orangeville; five sisters, Monique (Brad) Kiser, Rawlins, Wyo.; Lori (Kelly) Hess, Devona (Ryan) Case, Evanston, Wyo.; JoLynn Huntington, Teddi (Kris) Riley, Orangeville; and grandmother, Clara Petersen, Ephraim.
Memorial services were Saturday, May 7 at the Altamont LDS Stake Center under the direction of Hullinger Mortuary.
Layne Willson
ELMO – Layne Ellis Willson, age 45, died May 14, 2005, in Price.
He was born Jan. 12, 1960, in Price to Ellis and LouJean Willson. He married Marie Lindsey on Dec. 19, 1980, in Wellington, they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on Dec. 18, 1982.
He is survived by wife, Marie; daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Brett Jensen; parents, Ellis and LouJean; father-in-law, Marcus H. Lindsey; brother, Marvon and Alicia Willson; sisters, Kristy and David Prettyman; Terry Erison; Jerry and Edward Chavez; brother-in-law, Leonard and Barb Lindsey; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lindsey; grandmother Ada Willson; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by grandparents.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, May 18, at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a funeral in his honor will be on Thursday, May 19 at the Wellington 1st/4th Ward LDS Chapel at 100 E. Main at 1 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior. Burial, Wellington City Cemetery.
Louis Bonza
WOODSIDE/SALT LAKE CITY – Louis (Lou) F. Bonza, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away May 13, 2005, at his home in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City.
He was born in Woodside in 1917 to Fred and Ambrosina Bonza. He graduated from Carbon High School in Price and went on to the University of Utah. He joined Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in 1941. That same year he married his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Beveridge of Price and had two son, Charles and Edward. After his first wife, Mary, passed away, he was most fortunate to have a great lady named Gwen enter his life and they have been married for 16 years. Traveling together to France, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, they built a fine set of memories and adventures.
Lou worked until retirement at Lockheed in the Skunk Works as a key contributing mechanical engineer for the high altitude aircraft designs of the U-2 and SR-71 spy planes used before the age of satellites.
He retired to Salt Lake City near his favorite university, where he lived for the last 33 years. During this time, neighbors, friends and family appreciated his active work at fixing anything and everything. Many tried to stump him with a project and he was pleased that somehow he always figured it out.
Lou is survived by wife, Gwen; two sisters, Adele Carlow of Price; Josephine Vieta of Salt Lake City; two sons, Chuck (wife Dale) and Ed; and three granddaughters, Wendy, Tami and Nicole.
Always looking forward, friend to all, and always eager to held are just a few phrases that characterize what people remember and say about Lou. We celebrate his life and will miss him dearly.
Services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2 p.m., in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 South, where family and friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Jesse Brinkerhoff
HUNTINGTON – Jesse Gene Brinkerhoff beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother returned to his Father in Heaven May 11, 2005, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 27, 1930, in Emery to Lloyd and Zella Maxfield Brinkerhoff. Married Ila Rae Roundy Aug. 2, 1947, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Aug. 7, 1957.
He had six sisters and five brothers. Jesse was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his lifetime companion, Rae, served two full time missions to the Oregon Portland and Canada Halifax missions. They devoted their lives to serving the Lord. Jesse loved his family and was a good example. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He was the manager of Zions Bank in Huntington for 10 years, after which he owned and managed JJ’s Family Store alongside his wife. Jesse loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family.
Survived by wife, Rae of Huntington; seven children and their spouses, Richard and Terri Brinkerhoff of Kaysville, Gary and Carla Brinkerhoff of Salem, Jeanette Sorensen of Orangeville, Glenda and Kyle Hansen of Huntington, Scott and Lisa Brinkerhoff of Huntington, Ralene and Robert Larsen of Castle Dale, and Lorene and Kristin Brinkerhoff of Syracuse, 43 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon and Cal; sister, Mae; and grandson, Dusty Sorensen.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 14, at the Huntington LDS Stake Center under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Interment in the Huntington Cemetery.
