Workers toil on the bridge by the Peerless Port of Entry as large truck traffic fills the narrow lanes on the other side of the road.

The Utah Department of Transportation has a number of projects going on in Castle Valley.
Some of the roadway improvement projects could cause traffic delays. Several of the highway projects are nearing completion, while other improvements are in the starting stages.
Local UDOT improvement projects include:
•Widening U.S. Highway 6 from Price to Wellington.
Crews are placing culverts, excavating the bed and paving the road’s shoulders.
Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction, with occasional closures as directed by flaggers.
Motorists should watch for workers and equipment and expect occasional delays for truck crossings. Projected completion date is in spring 2005.
•Upgrading the bridge on U.S. 6 near Peerless port of entry.
The bridge rehabilitation operations are underway. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction with a reduced speed limit of 40 miles per hour along with some closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Carbon County motorists traveling on U.S. 6 should expect moderate delays. Projected completion date is September.
•Utah Highway 10 south of Price.
The project includes flattening a hill and crews will work 24 hours per day from July 12 through July 20. Traffic is detoured around the project with a reduced speed limit.
Motorists should expect minimum delays. Projected completion date is July 20.
•U.S. 6 from milepost 221 to 231.
The project includes the placement of a bonded wearing course on a 10-mile section. Crews will place the wearing course in two-mile sections from July 19 through Aug. 12. Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no work occurring July 23 through July 25.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in alternating directions, led by pilot cars. Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Projected completion date is mid-August.
•SR-10 in Castle Dale.
Project includes realigning west Main Street, 400 West and SR-10. Excavation has started and access to SR-10 from west is temporarily closed.
From Main Street and 400 West, one lane of SR-10 is open. Motorists should expect minor delays. Projected completion date is the end of August.
