Fredrick Barnett
HELPER – Fredrick Stanley Barnett, of Circleville, and formerly Helper and Provo, passed away October 2, 2004.
Fred was born November 8, 1938 in Diamond City, Alberta, Canada, to Thetis and Stanley Barnett, and later moved with his family to Provo in 1951. Fred met and married Sharon Elegante in Provo, where they raised three children, Jenean, Tony and Alisa (who he affectionately referred to as “the Mouse”).
He always remembered Diamond City, speaking fondly and with respect of the simplicity of childhood in rural Alberta. During this time, Fred worked for his father-in-law, James Elegante, who had a successful beer distribution business – Jim’s Distributing. After the death of his father-in-law in 1972 and the sale of the business, Fred worked for Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company. Fred had been an active member of the Utah National Guard for several years and was honorably discharged. Fred and Sharon were later divorced, and he was then briefly married to Peggy Clay; they had a son, Ryan, in 1979. Fred eventually settled in Helper, enjoying the solitude that life provided in a more rural setting.
He was an avid reader, an independent thinker and preferred a solitary but physically active lifestyle. He will be remembered for his love and respect of nature, hunting, fishing, hiking, his appreciation for music, as well as his wry sense of humor. He leaves his children with a strong legacy of appreciating the importance of integrity, having respect “for our elders,” love of nature, and the ability to strive for independent thought.
Fred is survived by his children, Jenean Derheim, Sarasota, Fla.; Anthony Barnett, San Francisco, Calif.; Alisa Cutler, Draper; and Ryan Barnett, Orem; grandchildren, Barbara-Jane, Kasey, Cameron, Alexandra, and Aidan. Fred had numerous nieces and nephews and had a special affection for Rebecca, Gary William and Michelle. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Thetis and Stanley Barnett, his brother, Gary Barnett, and also his grandson, Christopher Lindley.
No visitation is planned, and a private memorial service is scheduled for a later time. Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, of Orem is handling necessary matters. Alan Rogers
PRICE/KEARNS – Staff Sgt. Alan Lee Rogers, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend died Sept. 29, 2004 while serving as an ammunitions specialist in Afghanistan.
He was born May 13, 1955 in California to Marguerite and Kenneth Rogers.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Reese Rogers, Kearns; son, Joshua Glenn (Miriam) Ellis, Kearns; daughter, Destri (Robert) Kenley, Kearns; grandchildren, Heather Nicole Brewer, Lacey Joy Kenley, Daniel I. Ellis; brothers, Jim (Sue) Rogers, La Habra, Calif.; Gary (Barbara) Rogers, Bellflower, Calif.; sister, Jody Berry, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends in Carbon County. Preceded in death by parents; and son, Troy Dean Warren.
Private services will be held Friday, Oct. 8.
