Emma Jacques
PRICE/TENNESSEE – Emma Jean Jacques, 79, of Portland, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at her residence.
A native of Utah, she was born July 1, 1924 to the late Alice (Johnson) and David Timothy. She was a homemaker. She served her country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
She is survived by three daughters, Allison Millette of Boilingbrook, Ill.; Janel Lybarger of White House, Tenn.??; and Patrice M. Bond of Portland, Tenn.; ?? two sons, Winthrop Albert Jacques of Portland, Tenn.:??; and Phillip Jacques of Madison, Wis.; one sister, Vida Wall of Cleveland; 18 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by husband, Winthrop Albert Jacques, and two sons, Larry and Peter Jacques.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 2, at Portland Funeral Chapel. Her remains were sent to Cleveland.
Samuel Hunt
PRICE/WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – Samuel Sylvester Hunt was called home by his heavenly father March 14, 2004 at the VA hospital in Reno, Nev. surrounded by his loving family.
Sam was born Jun 28, 1928 in Huntington, to Samuel Sylvester Hunt Sr. and Rosann Levi. Sam served in both the United States Air Force and Navy. He retired from the Navy in 1972. During his time in the service Sam met and married the love of his life, Barbara W. Waterman on March 28, 1950, after 33 years of marriage Sam still thought of her as his “girlfriend”.
Sam enjoyed dancing at seniors, playing cards, “flipping out” with his wife, and traveling around with his wife before he became ill. Sam will always be remembered for his love and tender heart, he was always willing to help people in any way he could, Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren when he came to Price for a visit, he will be dearly missed by all of us.
He is survived by his loving wife; and their children, Sam Hunt, Dennis Hunt, and Bruce Hunt of Winnemucca, Nev.; and Darlene (Max) Conder of Price; grandchildren, Paul Mullis, Alycia Gabriel, Lori Vasquez, Jenny Mullis, Chris Hunt; and four great-grandchildren and one on the way. Sam was preceded in death by parents; and 15 brothers and sisters.
In keeping with his wishes Sam was cremated in Reno, Nev. under the direction of O’Brian, Rogers, and Crosby Mortuary. Leah Mae Wells
PRICE/WELLINGTON – Leah Mae Wells, age 78, of Wellington, was welcomed home by loving arms on March 20, 2004.
Leah was born to James Kershew and Vena May Wells March 19, 1926, in Victor, Emery.
Leah’s place in the family was an enviable one. She was the first girl, and a red head to boot. She grew up mainly on the family farm at Victor. This was the ideal place under Jim and Vena’s care to raise great crops, great livestock, and most importantly great children, all of which were counted as their “jewels”.
Leah’s life was filled with a love of learning. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served an honorable mission in Canada. She was a knowledgeable scriptorian, and enjoyed sharing that knowledge and testimony as she served excellently as a gospel doctrine teacher. Leah held many other church callings, being a seminary teacher and musical director were among her most memorable.
Leah worked for the Carbon County School District for a total of 31 years, 19 of which she was an elementary education teacher. Teaching and music were two of the great loves of her life, and combining the two was absolute heaven. Surely many of her past students have a dusty ukulele tucked away on some forgotten closet shelf.
Leah was a talented writer and poet. She gave each member of her family a beautifully written family history which we all treasure. Leah loved “All Things Beautiful”. We will dearly miss those things about her that we loved most.
Survived by brother, Robert E. (Carol) Wells of Salt Lake; three sisters, Anne Watt of Wellington; Pat (Gary) Christensen of Logan; Verna (Larry) Lauritsen of Price; sister-in-law, Colleen Wells of Wellington; and nephews and nieces a plenty. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Lynn, Ray, and Dal; sister-in-law, Jean Wells; and brother-in-law, James Watt III.
The funeral will be Tuesday, Mar. 23, 11 a.m. in the Wellington LDS 1stt /4th LDS Ward Chapel with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral. Burial, Wellington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary in Price.
