So you think we had a lot of snow last winter? And you think we probably have more water than in many of the years from the past six seasons? Well, unfortunately, if you believe these two things you are wrong, twice.
Scofield Reservoir started off the season with two to three thousand acre feet less of storage than they did last year and the fill rate is down, because much of the moisture that fell during the winter sank into earth that has had little H2O in the last few years.
Because of this the Price City water team is asking for your help. Believe it or not we are all on the same water team for the Price City culinary water system. We live in an arid part of the State of Utah with an average annual precipitation rate of 11 inches.
However, for the second time in 10 years we find ourselves in a severe drought. But that should not be a surprise. Like any creature we just need to adapt to the environment we live in to survive. Survival means organizing ourselves to put the resources we have to the best use and maintain a reserve.
The team rules are as follows.
•Residents, non-residents and small businesses may water outside any day of the week (except between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.). No outside watering on Sundays.
•Large water users. Price City properties may water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.. No outside watering on Sundays.
•Carbon County properties such as the school district, the care centers, the College of Eastern Utah, all churches, shopping centers, private housing developments and large apartment complexes may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. No outside watering on Sundays.
We ask you to water only when you need to. Adjust automatic sprinklers properly and don’t over water.
Save every drop and of course use water wisely.
