Jeanne Moynier
PRICE – Norma Jeanne Empey Moynier, age 81, passed away Dec. 2, 2004 in Price.
Born Sept. 6, 1923 in Price to Carl and Polly Jessen Empey. She was one of four children, including Waneta, Carl and Max, who all preceded her in death. Married Leon M. Moyner Sr. Oct. 25, 1941 in Ely, Nev.; he died April 13, 1971.
Member of the LDS Church
Lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School.
During her life, she was a member of the board of directors of the Carbon County Nursing Home. She was an active member and held offices in the Price Ladies of Elks, Price Sorrocis, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Beta Sigma Phi.
Jeanne was a loving mother, wife, and she helped support her husband in the sheep ranching business. She was a pillar of strength for her family and a mentor, counselor and friend to all those who knew her.
Survived by daughter, Lea Maureen (Joe) Levisky, Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Leon M. (Dee) Moynier Jr., Price; five grandchildren, Joseph and Ann Marie Levisky, Leon, Cory and Cody Moynier; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Monday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart or American Diabetes Association.
Dan Coleman
PRICE – Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Dan Coleman, age 74, passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2004 while surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 26, 1930 in Castle Gate to Pernal Alonzo and Virl Irene Lawson Coleman.
At the tender age of 13, he started working in various coal mines, where he worked for 46 years. Member of the United Mine Workers of America Hiawatha Local 6363, where he retired from in 1991.
He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. When Dan returned home, he married the love of his life, Darlene Ellen Smith, on April 6, 1953 in Elko, Nev. She returned home on May 12, 2002.
The couple spent 49 happy years together. They enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends
In the later years, they enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona and driving to Mesquite, Nev., to gamble.
Dan enjoyed playing poker, golf and pool. His greatest joy was playing poker with family and friends. We all called him the “Poker King”.
Survived by son, Danny (Tracie) Coleman; daughters, Kathy Coleman and Reggie Jones, Sharon (Hubert) Wilson, all of Price; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one the way; four sisters, Lita (Jim) Redford, Fawn Salzetti, Maxine Braby, Kay Evans; two brothers, Parry (Raye) Coleman and Tom (Lucy) Coleman. Preceded in death by parents; wife; seven brothers and sisters; and daughter, Eileen G. Coleman.
Funeral service, Thursday, Dec. 9, 12 noon, Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Larry Sower
PRICE/MILFORD – In loving memory of Larry Paul Sower, who passed away Dec. 2, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nev.; beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Larry was born to Donald and Marjorie Sower Nov. 20, 1948 in Stuttgart, Germany. Larry married Sharon Bastian in 1968 in Moab. They had two children, Brittany Renee Sower and Christopher Michael Sower. Larry married Mary Stewart in 1988. They blended families with Mary’s daughters, Felicia and Jennifer Van Leuven.
He grew up in U.S. Army military bases all over the world before his family settled in Price.
Larry graduated from Carbon High School in Price in 1966, attended University of Utah and completed an associated degree in chemistry in 1972.
Larry spent 30 years in industrial and agricultural mineral production, developed several patents and worked on projects in Chile, Israel, Jordan, China and Canada. In the United States, he worked for Texas Gulf Resources and Great Salt Lake Minerals.
In the hog industry, Larry pioneered the use of total containment lagoon systems and was instrumental in the industrial layout, design and development of Circle Four Farms near Milford.
At the time of his death, Larry was president of Crystal Peak Farms Inc. and was actively engaged in research in the field of livestock waste management focusing on holistic solutions to the environmental problems of the industry.
Larry was deeply committed to the support and promotion of Beaver County. He served on the Milford City Council, owned and operated the Dodge City News, owned a bar and a diner in Milford and worked to attract economic development to southern Utah.
Larry also served as president of the Western Utah Mining Association; vice chairman, Utah Rural Development Council; president of the Beaver County Economic Development Corporation; and a board member on the Beaver County Planning Commission and Utah Center for Rural Life.
In recognition of his efforts to improve the economic base of Beaver County, Larry was awarded the Medallion of Southern Utah Honors from Southern Utah University in 1993.
Larry had a lifelong abiding belief in the strength of the individual, pioneering spirit and rural communities.
He loved fishing, hunting and the solitude of his mountains and deserts.
Larry is survived by mother, Marjorie; wife, Mary; children, Brittany, Christopher, Felicia and Jennifer; sisters, Stacia, Kathleen and Susan; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by father, LTC Donald Sower; and brother, Donald M. Sower.
A wake is scheduled in celebration of his life on Saturday, Dec. 11, 1 p.m., at the Milford city office building, 26 South 100 West.

Jack Taylor
HUNTINGTON – Jack H. Taylor, age 72, passed away Dec. 1, 2004 at his home in Huntington.
He was born Oct. 20, 1932 in Orangeville to Jared LeRoy and Della May Cox Taylor. He married Janet Wilberg Sept. 20, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Jack was an avid biker and spent many wonderful hours teaching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to ride.
He took great pride in his yard work, woodwork and enjoyed camping and boating, especially in Joes Valley.
Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and being a grandpa. His family was his life.
As a member of the LDS Church, he served in numerous callings.
He worked for Castle Valley Co-op for 20 years and for Magnuson Lumber for 14 years and was respected by all who knew him.
Jack is survived by wife, Janet of Huntington; children, Debra and Larry Joe Newman of Huntington; Steven Jack and Jody Taylor of Cleveland; Nola and Bliss Mead of Orangeville; seven grandchildren and eight (soon to be nine) great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Chester Vaughn Taylor, and sister, Barbara Baudack. He was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, two sisters; and infant son, John.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 4, 11 a.m., at the Huntington 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Burial, Castle Dale Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Dee Anna Wilstead
CALIFORNIA – Dee Anna Wilstead died Dec. 1, 2004 at the age 62 due to lymphoma cancer.
She was at her daughter’s home in Southern California on hospice care.
Her funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia, Colo.
