A 6-0 loss to the Delta Rabbits was an improvement upon an earlier season game against the tough team, according to Carbon High girls coach Tanya Henrie.
Last time the scoring gap was much wider.
“I’m really happy with the improvement the girls are making,” she commented. “But a loss is still a loss and it hurts.”
Carbon could not shut down Delta’s constant barrage on the Carbon goal and the more experienced Lady Rabbits were able to maintain control of the ball for the majority of the game.
However, steady improvement is the number one goal of Carbon High soccer as it eases into its new role as a school sport. Henrie said that all but four of the players are underclassman and will be returning for the 2005 season.
Henrie is currently focused on giving her players the most game experience they can get to prepare them for the seasons to come.
Our biggest share of players are juniors,” she pointed out. “In the next few years we are going to just get stronger.”
Carbon will host North Sanpete today at 3:30 p.m. Henrie said she expects a close match, as was the case last time the two teams met.
North Sanpete recently beat Grand High 7-0.
