Annie Marinoni


PRICE – Anna “Granny Annie” Caserio Marinoni, age 87, passed away Sept. 22, 2004 at home while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 16, 1917 in Lead, S.D., to Dominic and Victoria Miglio Caserio. Married John A. Marinoni Nov. 5, 1938 in Lead, S.D.
During the Depression, Annie quit high school and worked to help her mother support the younger family. She never regretted doing it, but reinforced the importance of education on her girls and grandchildren.
She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Price Ladies of Elks, Price Women of the Moose and Stella D’America Italian Lodge 77.
She loved helping others and volunteered at the Carbon County Food Bank, Notre Dame school and church and as a Girl Scout leader. She worked at Campus Inn, Price city swimming pool and Angie’s Dress Shop.
Angie loved to walk, swim, bowl and she was an avid CEU and Jazz basketball fan. She loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by husband, John Marinoni, Price; daughters, Charlene (Paul) Dupin, Price; Judy Leavitt, Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Paula (Paul) Dupin-Zahn, Kaysville; Pamela (Shane) Dupin-Bryant, Stansbury Park; Joshua (Stacey) Leavitt, Jan Raquel Reardon, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandchildren, Candace and Courtney Reardon, Las Vegas, Nev.; Patrick and Phillip Zahn, Kaysville; Kendel and Preston Leavitt, Las Vegas, Nev.; Samantha and Zane Bryant, Stansbury Park; sisters, Patricia Marinoni, Price; brother, Clifford (Maxine) Caserio, Lead, S.D.; sister, Stella (Clarence) Leeling, Lead, S.D.; and dear friend, Phyllis (Bill) Baker. Preceded in death by two infant daughters; great-grandson, Ethan Leavitt; parents; brothers and sisters, Lucy Bachelli, Charlie and Joe Venuta, Theresa King, Margaret Larive, Charlie and Stephen Caserio.
Funeral Mass Monday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Sunday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Sunday and Monday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Notre Dame Church, Carbon County Food Bank or Rocky Mountain Hospice.


Marba Schicke


SPRING GLEN – Marba Schicke, age 84, passed away Sept. 15, 2004 in Salt Lake City.
She was worn Oct. 7, 1921 in Price to George and Dora Powell Spencer. She married John Schicke in California and they have been residents of Carbon County for the past 20 years. He preceded her in death.
Marba attended Long Beach State University until her marriage to John. She enjoyed painting and playing the violin but most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Peterson and Susan Lightfoot, both of California; and Trina Hall of Salt Lake City; and grandchildren, Brenda, Kimberly, Jeremy and Kyle.


Flo Johnson


HELPER – Florence Louise DeRose Johnson, age 84, passed away Sept. 21, 2004 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
She was Sept. 23, 1919 in Sunnyside to Frank and Caroline Sicilia DeRose. Married Willard C. “Willie” Johnson Jan. 12, 1946 in Helper. He died Nov. 16, 2000.
Member of the Catholic Church.
Florence spent her entire life as a homemaker, decorating, cleaning and cooking fabulous gourmet meals for her family and friends. Cooking was her life’s passion and, even at the age of 84, her wonderful recipes still circulate throughout Carbon County.
Flo will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by daughter, Sherry J. (Frank) Jerant, Salinas, Calif.; sons, Terry (Cheryl) Johnson, Price; Bill (Candace) Johnson, West Jordan; brother, Louie (Lena) DeRose, Springville; sisters, Millie (Nick) Georgedes, Reno, Nev.; Carm DeRose, Helper; five grandchildren, Tony and Mike Jerant; Frank Johnson, Jena Reusch, Melissa Pero; four great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Makenna, Damon and Alex. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Rose Beckley.
Funeral Mass Saturday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Friday evening, 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will be at St. Anthony’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.


George Marvidikis


PRICE – George Marvidikis, age 72, passed away Sept. 20, 2004 at his home in Price.
He was born April 9, 1932 in Consumers to Mike and Mildred Cave Marvidikis. Married Patricia J. Stroup June 14, 1973 in Denver, Colo. She passed away Nov. 27, 1992.
George was a longtime resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School.
He loved hunting, fishing and traveling to see his relatives in Salt Lake City and Colorado.
He loved his family dearly and he especially enjoyed being around his children and loved ones.
Survived by sons, Vern Marvidikis, Stacey Marvidikis, Scott Marvidikis, Joel Marvidikis, all of Price; daughter, Loretta Rhodes, LaPine, Ore.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Corrine; son, Shawn; brothers, Jim, Tony, Bill and Andy.
Graveside service Thursday, Sept. 23, 1 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to graveside service.
