It’s show time again! Castle Valley Community Theater proudly presents this year’s fall production, GREASE.
Danny Zuko, Sandy Dumbrowski and all their friends sing and dance their way through this well loved musical about the trials of being a teen in the 1950s. It is another blast from the past. People who are into nostalgia or remember that time of life fondly, will not want to miss this show. A local cast of 42 teenagers bring that era to life before your eyes on the Mont Harmon Theater stage Nov 11-13, 15, 18 -20, 22. Curtain goes up at 7:30 pm.
This show is one the teenagers have been after us to produce forever,” director Gail Scoville enthused. “It is a delightful tale of kids trying to fit in, figuring out how to live a life true to their own beliefs. And the music is so much fun.”
“The play is not exactly like the movie,” musical director Sherrie Vlamakis adds. “We think the play version is better. Our two casts are so cute, people will want to come see the show at least twice just to see the way the two casts are different.”
CVCT board members decided to try two Monday evening performances in addition to our traditional Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule, for two weekend runs in hopes that many families would come together to watch this show and use it as a spring board for some serious family discussions. All those pressing issues teenagers deal with surface in this show. Board member Madelaine Nyffeler urged,” We want parents to come with their teenagers to see this show and then go home to discuss how they feel about some of these issues. I really believe that as parents, we sometimes assume our kids know or just absorb our belief system because they live with us everyday, but we never really discuss things like smoking, teenage drinking, gang involvement or what we consider delinquent behavior. This show is a perfect platform for those kinds of after-show discussions.”
“Our ticket prices are still only $5. Tickets are available at the door, ” says Castle Valley Community Theater president, Michael Youso.
