Evelyn Snow
SALT LAKE CITY – Evelyn Branch Snow, 88, died peacefully on Aug. 5, 2004, surrounded by family members at her home in Salt Lake City.
She was born on May 11, 1916 in Wellington to Ray and Sylvia Shimmin Branch. She was the oldest of three children.
She married A. Montie Snow in the Manti LDS Temple on Oct. 26, 1940.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother and great grandmother.
Evelyn was a graduate of Carbon High School, where she participated in band and marched at the Chicago Worlds Fair.
She was the accompanist for musical groups and many church and civic events.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout her lifetime.
She received her Golden Gleaner Award. She served an honorable mission in the southern states mission. She and her husband, Montie, served as ordinance workers in the Manti LDS Temple for many years.
She was a fabulous cook, creative decorator and expert organizer. Her love for good music was shared with her family and friends.
Her family was the center of her universe.
She is survived by her eternal companion, Montie; children Diana Johansen, Salt Lake City, Marcia (Ray O.) Madsen, Puyallup, Wash.; Arnie R. Snow, Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren: Scott P. Johansen, Jill (Jari) Bartschi, Sandra (Drake) Clarke, Christopher (April) Madsen, Ryan Madsen, Eric (Jennifer) Madsen, Nancy (Mark) Johnson, Andrew D. Madsen, Matthew T. Snow, Katie Snow, Cathie Snow, and 10 great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Fay L. Branch, son-in-law, Paul M. Johansen and granddaughter, Sallie Snow.
Funeral services will be at the Price 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 545 East 400 North, on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. Visitation was Aug. 9 at Fausett Mortuary and is scheduled one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Park Drive Salt Lake City, at 3 p.m. on Aug. 10..

Cloyd Barker
HOLDREDGE, Neb. – Cloyd Richard Barker, 63 years of age, passed away on Aug. 7, 2004 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Neb.
Cloyd was born on July 1, 1941 at Spring Glen, the second of five children of Funnan and Alpha (Haycock) Barker.
Cloyd attended school in Utah and Colorado. Following his education, he served in the U.S. Navy, serving four years as a boat’s mate stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas, and Japan. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to Colorado.
He then was united in marriage to Mary Weber and, to this union, three children were born, Jeanie, Cloyd Jr. and Cindy.
The family made their home in Colorado until moving to Holdrege, Neb., where Cloyd was employed by Kingsley Concrete. He then moved to Sidney, Neb., where Cloyd was a welding foreman for a manufacturing company.
While in Sidney, Neb., he met Nancy Mason and they later married and were blessed with two children, Todd and Brenda. The family made their home in Price, where Cloyd fabricated steel for mining equipment and oil rigs for H&J Welding.
In 1985, they moved to Holdrege, Neb., and Cloyd was employed by Holdrege Seed, Overton Sand and Gravel. He was also employed at Minden Machine Shop in Minden, Neb.
He loved to attend rodeos, demolition derbies, play horseshoes, fish, camp, watch Denver Bronco football, watch wrestling on TV, spend time with his grandchildren and, especially, perform fabrication with metal work and tell stories.
He was a member of the American Legion in Holdrege, Neb., and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Nancy of Holdrege, Neb.; three daughters: Jeanie Duarte and her husband, Antonio, of Scotts Bluff, Neb., Cindy Hyde of Grand Junction, Colo.; Brenda Wright and her husband, Scott of Holdrege, Neb.; two sons: Cloyd Barker Jr. of Cheyenne, Wyo; Todd Barker and his wife, Ronda, of Holdrege, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; father-in-law, James Mason of Sioux City, Iowa; five brothers: Dell Barker and his wife, Joann, of Salt Lake City, Carl Barker and his wife, Bev, of Dix, Neb., Ferrel Barker of Spring Glen, Creg Barker and his wife, Lenora, of Sidney, Neb.; Funnon Barker of Corinne; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Lance Barker and one sister, Carol Jones.
A memorial book signing for Cloyd R. Barker was scheduled at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 9 p.m., with the family greeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m.Memorial services will be conducted at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Neb., on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. with Howard Eltiste, officiating.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
