Donna Martino
PRICE – Donna Marie Gentry Martino, age 73, passed away Oct. 14, 2003 in Price while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 1, 1930 in Sweets to John O. and Berniadene Owen Gentry and later moved to Hiawatha, where she made friends easily. The same friends have remained in her life all these years.
In Hiawatha, she met Jay Martino, her husband and life companion. Donna and Jay were married March 26, 1948 in Salt Lake City.
In school, she had the title of “Miss Personality.” She and Jay enjoyed wintering in Arizona, traveling, dancing and boogie woogie music. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, family, friends and her home. She also enjoyed crocheting, golfing and helping others.
One of her most cherished lifetime accomplishments were her children, Dona Lyn Martino, Salt Lake City; Tracy (Lois) Martino, Heber City; and Lane (Kim) Martino, Price. She was very affectionately called “Grandma Donna” by her seven grandchildren, Christopher, Gentry, Danielle, Karlee, Chad, Colton “CJ” and Lillian.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her husband, Jay; her children and grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Bill) Burgess, Salt Lake City; her dear friends and several nieces and nephews.
You are truly our inspiration and guardian angel. We love you and will forever miss your words of encouragement, beautiful eyes and contagious smile. Be at peace, Mom.
Funeral service Saturday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m., Price 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 545 East 400 North. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Max Christman
PRICE – Max Christman, age 81, passed away Oct. 13, 2003 in Price after a short battle with cancer.
Born June 29, 1922 in Clawson to Joseph Franc and Laura Blackburn Christman. Married Alma Irene Lovins March 6, 1944 in Salt Lake City. She died Feb. 13, 1985. Married Margaret Robertson Feb. 27, 1988 in Price.
Served in U.S. Navy during World War II from 1940 to 1948. Retired member UMWA Kaiser Steel Local 9958 with 37 years of dedicated service.
Member of the Slovenian Home in Spring Glen. Member Carbon Lodge 16 F&AM and the Eastern Utah Shrine.
Max was a great artist and he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Margaret Christman, Price; daughter, Sharon Christman, Orem; son, Gary (Judy) Christman, Wellington; four stepchildren, Ron Robertson, Moses Lake, Wash.; Karen (Dan) Seat, Salt Lake City; Jim (Starla) Robertson, Price; Robert Robertson, Wellington; brother, Milton Christman, Tacoma, Wash.; sister, Pat Diamond, Page, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, La Preal Christman, Orangeville; Audrey Murphy, El Central, Calif.; Bessie Christman, Price; brother-in-law, Robert Cormani Jr., American Fork; three grandchildren, four and one-half great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside service Friday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Michelle Rich
PRICE/ST. GEORGE – Our beloved daughter, sister and granddaughter, Michelle Rich, age 20, passed away Oct. 14, 2003 in Provo from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident.
She was born Sept. 16, 1983 in Price to Kirt and Donetta Rich.
Michelle was a student at Dixie State College in St. George. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends camping, riding four-wheelers and playing board games.
Michelle had a love for music, playing the piano, reading and dancing. Everyone close to Michelle will miss her favorite pastime of all, rocking in the rocking chair.
Survived by her parents, Kirt and Donetta Rich, Price; siblings, Mark (Vicky) Rich, Vernal; Nancie (Robert) Cave, Price; Ginger (Tony) Ferderber, Perry; Dustin (Megan) Rich, Midvale; Nicole (Scott) Railsback, Salt Lake City; twin sister, Raquel (Stan) Jewkes, Price; and grandparents, Don and Betty Brown, Vernal. Michelle dearly loved her nieces and nephews, Drake, Justine, Corbin and Garrett Rich; Karlie, Austin, Baylie and Taydin Cave; and Kylee Ferderber. Also survived by close uncles, aunts and cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents, Thorald and Lucille Rich; nephew, Blayne Rich; and special aunt, Maurine Smuin.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Price North LDS Stake Center, 449 North 100 East. A viewing will be Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and Saturday at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 prior to service. Burial will be in the Cliffview Cemetery.
Lyle Bryner
PRICE – Lyle Bryce “Sookie” Bryner, 80, passed away Oct. 9, 2003 from pneumonia and a fight with cancer. His family was at his side.
He was born Dec. 11, 1922 in Price to Junius Birch and Mary Ann Bryce Bryner. He married his sweetie, CeCelia Jewkes, Nov. 9, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple. After his wife, CeCelia, passed away in 1999, he found special love again and married Katie Bowles, Sept. 18, 2001.
Lyle was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and raised his family while living the simple life of a farmer and rancher. He was a musician, teaching himself to play the mandolin. He found great joy in sharing his musical talent and brought happiness to countless others. He excelled at sports and earned All-State high school honors in basketball and football and he helped lead Carbon High to the ’41 State Football Championship Final.
Lyle served in WWII in the U.S. Army, 10th Mountain Division, fighting in the mountains of Italy. His fellow “Army buddies” were among his most treasured friends and he stayed in contact with many through regular reunions and correspondence his entire life. Highly patriotic and civic minded he served on numerous agricultural and water boards and committees for over 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grandsons and joking around. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and shared his sense of humor with everyone. Lyle only knew two kinds of people; friends and people he hadn’t met. He was a friend to everyone, no matter their religion, position, or the size of their wallet.
Lyle was LDS and his favorite of many callings was nursing home coordinator for Sunday services, where his friendly and loving personality brought joy to his elderly friends.
Survived by wife, Katie; son, Ross (Shauna); daughter, Marie (Dave) Bowles; brothers, Ted and Max; three grandsons; and special niece, Jackie Oman, all of Price. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, CeCelia; four brothers and one baby sister.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Wellington LDS Stake Center. Burial, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
